Comment:
His BIS102 class is basically an extension of CHE2B the way it starts out. Stay on top of the optional homework to master your Henderson Hasselbach equation and learn how to draw amino acids and the other structures he introduces in lecture early. He will test on those for the exams.

Dr. Gasser was one of my favorite professors at UCD. His lectures are clear. I have gone to his office hours a few times and he did not mind answering questions.

Gasser was a really great lecturer. His tests were definitely difficult, but fair. If you take the time to study and do all the practice problems you will be okay. Beating the curve is crucial, top 20% get an A. He is extremely responsive to online questions. Definitely the one to take for bis102, usually only teaches it spring. 2MT and Final.

Really clear lecturer and always willing to help you understand concepts during office hours. Can come off as a bit intimidating and sarcastic but really means well. His test questions were harder than Burgess. I would suggest printing out his notes and write anything else he says. Exams come from notes, practice, and some concepts from papers.

To be honest, I did not put in the time I needed to for this class. Lectures are really long and boring, but I managed to go to class every day. He uses podcasts, curves generously (53% was a C-), posts his notes online, has optional book work for homework, and he knows a lot about Biochem. Always willing to answer questions in class. Just study!

Dr. Gasser was one of the best professors I've had at Davis. He does a really good job getting the information that you need to know across to you. He also makes himself available through smartsite chat, and also records and podcasts all his lectures with uploaded lecture notes. Awesome professor and I would definitely take his class again.

Clear lecturer and gives pretty fair exams, but REALLY pay attention in lecture because anything goes. Open to questions and very active on smartsite chat too! :) Not impossible to do well if you do the homework and give your best effort. (For reference I have a terrible gen chem and bio background and still got a low A in this course.)

Professor Gasser is very knowledgable and his lectures are very clear! The podcasts and his notes posted on smart site are super helpful! He clarifies problems during his office hours if you need further help. His Moonwalk demonstration on the last day of class was the best!! I would take him again. Enjoyed his lectures and learned a lot!

Dr. Gasser is your traditional romantic hero archetype. He walks into class with swagger and lectures like a champ for 80 minutes. He throws on some shades and a leather jacket and leaves the room with the girls swooning behind him. Excellent professor.

Overall awesome professor - one the best I've had at UC Davis. Class is very organized. His online wikiwritten notes were really useful, so start reading them on day one beforeafter lecture. Warning: The first exam is the toughest; make sure to do good on it. MT2Final information builds on top of the information you learn in MT1

He is a wonderful professor who explains concepts in an easily understandable way. Lecture is very important because most of his test questions come from them. His tests are hard, but are doable. He does curve the class at the end. His class consists of 2 midterms and 1 final. He is one of the best 102 professors so take him if possible

Took the biochemistry seminar. Class was organized so students would present part of a scientific paper. Really chill, and as long as you did your work (present your table or graph), you would get a Pass.
