By far one of the most pathetic, useless teachers I have ever had the misfortune of having. He assigns his own textbook which is quite poorly written; it's filled with "large, complex" words which he says he feels obligated to use mainly because he has a doctorate degree. These words do nothing to further his teaching. AVOID THIS TEACHER!!

This professor is probabaly the worst I have right now at SRJC. He turns everything into a political dispute and longs to tell everyone how his view is "right". He is an annoying instigator and will say anything if he thinks it will start a huge argument between us and him or between the students. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I wish I didn't.

I just took his FILM telecourse and it was the best telecourse I have taken at CSM. He is a very smart, intelligent and worldly Professor. You need to read the book, in order to pass-but the book is really fun and interesting. He wrote the book so it should be interesting!

I took Media41 at Santa Rosa Junior College with Tony Kashani. He is a very smart man! I liked that we talked about current issues as well as film. As long as you do the work, of which there isn't too much, you'll get a good grade. I highly recommend this teacher.

The worst experience: teacher who does not want to teach and would rather push anti-American propaganda. The 3 lecture session during this condensed TV course were wasted on international and domestic politics, sharing anecdotal info. with his rhetoric on racial profiling at the airport and just pure hatred toward US. He cut each class short.

he makes the class incredibly simple and usually picks films that will appeal to mass audiences. he isnt "anti american" but rather a proponent for social justice and conducts film criticism from said standpoint. smart and eloquent; too bad much of it is lost on vapid students. he should be teaching upper division film at university.

This guys class is a joke. I felt like I was in a American Cultures study class, not a Film class. Half the time we spent debating racial issues in society. Also, most of the movies we watch are incredibly boring. Not recommended for anyone who actually wants to learn about film.

This guy is so knowledgable about everything. I not only learned about film in his class, but also about philosophy, history, and international politics. There are so many great films in his book (he wrote the book) and his class. highly recommended! And yes, he is very handsome too.

He's not a bad teacher, but he's very boring. He was also very strict with our class. and he was pretty rude to a lot of people. I really enjoyed a lot of the films we watched, but talking about every chapter was ridiculous. The quizzes were also not very helpful, just fill in the blank, and usually they were wrong because the terms are all simliar

It was fun watching movies from genres that I never knew about. I enjoyed alot of the movies but I hate when you have to talk about each chapter...we're not in elementary school, where the teacher asks questions that have obvious answers...but its easy....but the cost of the books was ridiculous.

Unless you really like film, stay away. Very disappointing class. I showed up every class, did all the work and only pulled a "C". He is strict about his grading (as he should be) however there are other courses to take with less work and easier grading systems. Nice guy, but dont take it just because "It sounds interesting.
