Don't take her class if you want to keep your GPA high. I have never heard of classmate who got A on essay. 85% of your grade is essay, but she doesn't teach us how to write. We were asked to write essay on first day of class even we didn't learn anything. I think it is not fare.

She is the worst professoor I ever take. She makes us do a lot of homework, but she doesn't explain the answers. She also makes us do a lot of writing and it will always effect your grade. She doesn't give us any feedback or comment, so I have no idea what's wrong with my essay. I think she didn't give A to any student.

The worst professor I have ever seen. Speaks very fast to a group of students that are just learning english! When you ask for clarification or her to repeat what she said she yells at you and sais pay more attention. Gives a ton of online hw with no help. You would have a easier time learning English from a table. (G7)

She's a great professor. I took 3 of her classes last semester and I learned a lot from her. The professor can be good or bad in class. It depends on your attitude. Don't say that the professor is not good. Please try to find the problem in yourself first. So, if you want to learn , I would recommend to take her classes. Good luck to you guys.

I've never met such a disrespectful teacher. She was not allowed to go to the restroom and went to outside pick up the phone. She always let us rewrite the comp, but never score it. She was very emotional and liked to lose her temper. The lecture was all about the book, we can not learn the real thing. she was so mean

Absolutely tough grader (almost cry), but I recommend those who want to push yourself work harder harder and harder. Just take her. She is an interesting teacher and has the way to get your out. ALL YOU NEED TO JUST WORK IT! Also No Cellphone! :) She is great and I may take her again. ( The grade makes you cry all week. but learn a lot from her

Think about Hippies when you deal with Valerie De Carvalho. She seems nice because she smiles and jokes around, but she is not respectful. She does not carry herself in a professional manner. She's the last students register in her class. If you do not care about face-to-face learning, then her online class is best. Hear her but don't see her.

All you have to do in her class (33B) is to study very very hard, otherwise, you may not pass this class. She gives us a ton of assignments to practice our English. However, she is very nice and has a positive attitude. Her lectures are very clear. She cares about her students. She is willing to help students who have grammar and writing issues.

Prof. De Carvalho cares about her students so she won't let you pass the class if your writings are not good enough for Eng 1 A. She's not a easy grader and you have to work hard in order to pass the class. She's always there for you if you have question about grammar. However, she doesn't talk about grammar exercises in the class.

If you want to learn, take her class. She is a very good teacher. Also, in her class you will learn to write research papers. She really helped us in any way that she could. After taking her class, you will not have any problems with writing research papers.
