Comment:

attendance is not mandatory however if you do not show up she will call you out for it, is a very tough maker objective marker, will take marks off and not explain why. I think the course is so pointless she trys to validate it by making it more difficult then intended. has no idea about real world business teaches it more like an English class.

Val is honestly the best prof in the faculty. Quizzes are really easy and attendance is mandatory.

Comment:

I had Val for B Comm 1 and she made it my favourite class to go to. She told us at the beginning that she doesn't give out A+ but she gave me one. It's pretty easy to get a good mark as long as you keep on top of the work and participate in class. Definitely recommend taking communications with her!

Comment:

I had B-Com with Val in the summer. It was extremely accellerated compared to a typical 4 month semester, but I found it manageable. I learned a lot , and Val was so helpful. There is a lot on the syllabus, but they are all really useful projects, such as a cover letter and resume, as well as a mock interview. I really enjoyed this class!

Suck up to Val and you'll do well. On the first day of class she announced that she doesn't believe in giving A+ and nobody in the class will get an A+. Very critical on little things making it very hard to get a good grade. Would avoid taking her class if I didn't have to.

A class everyone dreads taking. She's is helpful and makes the environment comfortable. From what I hear, she's the best choice for the communication courses. Attend class, and don't make a fool out of yourself on the presentations like I did.

PRESENTATIONS! This course is all about communication so bring your "A" game (or Type A personality) to class! She's extremely realistic and fair in marking. If you put in the effort to make creative and memorable presentations, you'll do excellent. She's not very good with technology though so expect D2L discrepancies and tech issues.

Val is fantastic! Her classes don't even seem like going to class. Lots of discussion and group work, you really get to know everyone in the class. She makes presentations as unintimidating as possible. Classes go by super fast because you're laughing the entire time. Its nearly impossible to fail this class, or not to love Val!

Terrific Instructor!!! She's helpful, clear, and humorful. Makes an 80 minute class seem like an half hour. It seems more discussion style than lecture, and the best part.. no midterms or finals! Her ease of teaching and flexability makes her a must have for Written Communications, or for that matter, any other classes that she teaches. A+ teacher!

Super Flexible on Deadlines, you can make mistakes and still get very high marks. Definatley a GPA upper.
