if you have to take this course just skip this professor, he is literally a tough grader, I wrote two research papers very carefully, specifically, but he only gives you half mark regardless of what you write!

overall an awful professor. all we do in class is watch a video on a topic then take about for 10 mins. I havent learned anything in his class. the worset part is that its a 50% midterm paper and 50% exam paper with unclear instruction on how to procced with the paper. ihes better suited for master classes NOT undergrad. overall avoid if possible.

Got off with a bad impression off him, I think it's because he's a bit too assertive, and seemed needy. However, at the end he loosened up a bit, and the class became more fun. I think he should chop the videos he plays in class and talk about them in between instead of having us watch full videos tho. He's among the smartest econ proffs for sure

Really smart guy and super approachable. He doesn't hold your hand, so make sure to come to class prepared. As long as you put in the work ,you should be fine.

let's just say that at one point he literally played a 1 hour and a half interview with a book author of a book he assigned us to read and then skipped to the 1h:20minute mark to show us the clip of him asking the author a question XD do with that information what you need.

If you're interested in learning about India take this class! He is very passionate about India (I'm pretty sure that is where he is from) he misses classes to go meet with the Indian government. But for real, you teach yourself so read the textbook and you'll do ok.

This professor would show up to class with no slides or anything, the CU page was left blank all year and he didnt even bother to even put up the syllabus on it. There isnt one class where he would go off on a tangent. First lecture everyone was there, by the third one there was a max of 40 students out of the 250-300. Read the textbookeasy A.

Lectures were super boring and he'd basically read out of the textbook, not worth your time to attend. Did bring in a lot of external information about India, if you're interested in that. Other than that lectures covered just the textbook.

This guy is an extraordinary professor... If you're not in ECON 1000. Knows the real world of economics, and has tons of experience. He's great for 3rd or 4th year courses, but not 1st. Only has bare bone notes which he doesn't upload. Exam was 70% of winter mark. Taught Macroeconomics, had different prof for micro (They're split courses now).

He did not give any slides or any notes, cu learn page was blank the whole year. If you did not go to class you just need to read the textbook, because thats all he would do in class id he was not off on a tangent. Mid terms and assignments were all from the textbook questions. The class was always only 1/3 full because no one bothered to show up.

Shows up with no slides or notes to follow in his lectures. Most of the time goes off on some tangent about something unimportant and ends up wasting classes talking about nothing.

Brilliant, very funny, and a great lecturer. Grading is super arbitrary though. He just kind of assigns a grade at the end of the class, so it helps to participate and show that you did the reading. I definitely recommend him as a prof though. I learned more from this class than I did from any class I've ever taken.

He cares that you participate. Speak up in class and answer his questions and even ask your own. He seems to grade somewhat arbitrarily. If you understand the subject and speak up, he will simply give you a good mark. During the short assignments, make sure to analyze the arguments and not just summarize them. Reading the Economist helps.

Extremely lazy prof. Made up the course as he went along along with the assignments (which he never read, graded or returned). Assigned grades at random at the end of the course.

Great prof and quite unlike other econ courses you'll take at Carleton. Stresses on applying yourself. Don't take this course if you want to solve boring math problems. Take it if you want to understand economics in the real world.

This is the laziest prof ever. No structure to the class, and you won't know what he's looking for. He never hands back any written work,if at all he grades it, neither does he give any feedback on how you are doing. The general feeling is that he gives grades arbitrarily at the end of the course. Mind you, the course is only about India.
