As long as you work hard and show effort, hell give you a good grade. Hes pretty weird but in that sense, hes hilarious. He may seem all hard and tough but hell help you whenever you need it. Hell easily kick you out of class if he sees you using your cellphone, he detests those things.

Comment:

Very effective professor. His careful approach while encouraging critical thinking drew out excellence. Personifies synergy with the group and stops just prior to answering the problems. This allowed deeper thought for students to "invent" while designing. His real world, honest approach to assessing projects is an asset that I will always value.

Professor Nicolai is a great professor. He has a unique teaching style and his projects are very interesting but also challenging and time consuming. Be ready to spend a good chunk of money on supplies for this class (around $200)

Professor Nicolai is a gifted teacher who brings intellectual discussion that prompts response from the students. This encouragement of thought is his trademark. His kind approach and listening skills provides the individual attention that is very rare in a classroom. I learned a great deal from this great professor and loved the class. J

Nicolai is awesome and one of those few professors who actually cares about his students (well just the ones who do the required work). There is a lot of note taking and reading handouts but he's always willing to answer your questions without talking down to you. He has a great sense of humor and knows his stuff very well.

HIGHLY recommended for Architecture majors...not a bad class, he is really out there and unique. If you listen to what he says and can take good notes, you'll do fine, he tells you what to study. There is quite a bit of hands on homework, but it makes you learn and is fun!

Waste of time + money. He spent the whole semester preaching his views on art and art history and using us as guinea pigs for the text book he is writing. He gave pages of notes for the sake of regurgitating information on an exam (ie: what years did plato, socrates lived) and the actual 3d work seemed an afterthought. Other than that afun guy

Tried to end my artistic career when I was a freshman. He told me that I couldn't be an art major because I needed drawing skills, and told me to my face that I had no talent. I will have my BA very soon AND I sell my paintings for a living! Don't listen if this guy if he tries to discourage you!

The best art class I have taken at this school by far! Walter makes class both fun and educational. Never a dull moment in class and he's a really great guy to boot! He should teach more classes at KSC!
