I had Dr. Vance in an online class. The class was pretty straight forward. I appreciated that he graded work on a timely manner. He was also very accessible for questions/concerns through email and he responded within a day. I appreciated the feedback on all the work I turned in.

He is an amazing teacher. He works with deadlines and also helps a lot in the writing center. He shows his funny and caring side through many great stories. He likes to make sure each student grows in their work and shows his care if you miss class even by one day. Ive missed a lot and he still worked with me on assignments! Great teacher!!

Dr. Vance is by far one of my favorite teachers I ever had. He is very knowledgeable and loves to share his knowledge and experiences with his students. He teaches in a great way. Throughout your time with him you will get attached and will want to take him the next semester because there will be no teacher like him. Make sure you read his books!

He is a really good English teacher. Really funny and engaging lectures. Just don't be late to class lest you hear the snake and the truck driver story. Also, talk to him about the history of Icelandic languages. The amount he knows on the topic is really amazing and it is interesting to hear him teach you about it.

Dr. Vance is one of those teachers you get attached to overtime after hearing his amazing lectures and stories of his personal life and he is an inspiration to all those around him. He knows how to engage a classroom and not bored them to death with lectures and other meaningless work. He was like a friend to me and I was actually sad after semster

I thought Dr. Vance was a really good teacher. You obviously have to your work to receive a good grade but the work load was very manageable. He gave us plenty of time to write papers and do assignments. This class is an easy A, as long as you do all of your assignments with at least some effort.

I took this class online. I felt like I could not please him on every assignment. One week, he would love my work and give me a 100. The next week, he would not like my work. When he didn't like my work, he rarely gave feedback. I have heard good things about him. I think I would have enjoyed him as a teacher better if I had taken him in class.

He is a well-read, educated person who is really passionate about what he teaches. But he is still human. The perfect combination. Classes are interesting and the assignments were very manageable but he does expect work. It was a cross between a critical thinking class and an English class. Fun!
