Prof. Sobczak is a good guy. He's out of it constantly. His lectures are boring and very important. You need to make your own notes and pay attention to what he says. If you can find him in office hours, which he always misses, then seem interested. His tests are very specific to his lectures and nothing else. His paper was simple. Ok overall.

Prof. Sobczak is a nice man, but taking a class with him this semester was a bizarre experience. The year started off OK, but over the course of the semester he grew increasingly inaccessible via email and office hours(!), and disorganized to the point where he blatantly lied to the class about grading the second exam. Could be very unprofessional.

Sobczak is a good dude. But, his class is basically just a powerpoint of pictures, and he just drags on about a topic with really zero structure. It's really difficult for first year students who aren't used to a college class. You can't study for tests because he makes up random questions. I wouldnt take the class unless you have to.

Comment:
While Prof. Sobczak is a nice man, his lectures are dry, lack structure, and are mostly unrelated to the textbook. Most of his exam questions come from obscure and seemingly unimportant tidbits from his disjointed lectures, which make his exams difficult to prepare for. Very helpful in office hours, although sometimes forgetful and disorganized.

Great teacher to have as a freshman. He gave helpful advice for studying and seemed to care about the habits of his students where most professors do not. Taught off of power points which I'm not a fan of, but the material is very structured and clear. Exams were basically regurgitation of lab and the power points. Real swell guy.

Professor Sobczak did not perform well as an educator in the Botany section of 132. He spent approximately 5-15 minutes prepping the class by telling us what we were going to talk about (without actually talking about the material!) We watched too many movies, and he spent too much time teaching us how to study, when we're college students.

this was a half semester botany course, and this was his first year teaching it. He is a very dsiorganized teacher and his tests are just random questions which you just need to be lucky for. The textbook is useless study off lab and lecture notes and the lab manuel. GOOD LUCK!!

Professor Sobczak is one of the best professors I have had at Holy Cross. His classes are well planned, interactive, and interesting. He uses field trips, current events, research projects, articles, and lectures to make sure you fully understand the subject matter. He's great in office hours and his tests are hard but fair. Also, just a nice guy.

Ecosystem Ecology was a really fun and interesting class. I'm not really interested in ecological biology but Sobczak made this a great class. At times it was a bit disorganized but the discussion element was great. The research paper was a big focus and Prof. Sobczak was extremely helpful with it (and everything else). He's a great guy.

Prof. Sobczak is an awesome professor. Freshewater Ecology was alot of work but he makes it worth all the effort. He's one of the nicest professors I've had at HC. He is very approachable and willing to help you out with anything at all. I would definitely recommend taking a class with him

Sobczak was such a great prof. he cares a lot about his students. His tests were hard, but there were other ways to raise ur grade. He looks exactly like Patrick Swazey, and therefore is very fun to look at! :)
