Comment:
Professor Haase was sweet and really enjoyed talking about Plato. He's a little difficult to understand because of his accent, but if you listen closely you can catch most of it. Exams were easy enough, and he took our small (5 person) class to dinner after the last class.

Smart man, but not at all personable. We did a lot of Latin, but his on the spot grammar questions made it seem like boot camp. Can be critical and harsh, even to those who honestly work hard and moreso to those who dont. Final exam 50% material not covered in class! This man cant interact with students, and bc of that he isn't an asset to BU.

The pace is fairly quick, so you need to attend class and keep up with the assignments. In the end, you learn a lot. Prof. Haase is very pleasant and is more than willing to help outside of class.

What a letdown! The whole semester we read only the Aeneid without any emphasis on Roman poetry. I had expected possibly reading some Catullus and perhaps some Horace, but the course really tested you on how well you could remember translations.

What a bore. Class expectations really high, and very unorganized. He may know his latin, but he sure doesn't know how to make it interesting

Translated 'Aeneid'. Rather idealistic in expectations of how much we would get through. He really loves Latin, but we didn't get the syllabus till like 3 weeks into the term. Almost never takes attendance, can't seem to remember people's names. Syllabus mentions paper, but we were graded on 2 exams

This class really taught me a lot about latin. I was kind of overwhelmed, but it reenforced everything I knew already and taught me a lot more. I recommend taking advanced classes with him because hes very smart. If you're a latin geek like me, you'll enjoy classes with him.

Don't be fooled by Prof. Haase's quiet demeanor. He's extremely intelligent and may make fun of you (not in a mean way) if you say something stupid. All in all, quite a fun class and good learning environment.
