Dr. Su is a master of all things related to the revolutions in China and social movements. He is a very interesting professor, so if you are interested in China this is the class to take. The reading is very heavy, we read close to 4 books had two essays in the class. So if you don't like to read, this may not be the easiest class for you.

I do not know what the comments below are complaining about; Su is a great professor who will genuinely help you if you go to his office hours. He is also incredibly easy; people get A's on his essays without even trying. He is very knowledgeable and a very nice person. Take his Revolutionary China or social movement class they're super easy A's.

It was obvious all the girls showed up to class just to check out the professor. Overall he was a cool dude, definitely a fun class to go to. Did not mind waking up early for it.

Didn't learn a thing in the class, but walked away with a B+ after bombing the final. just do your homework ( you have a week to do it, and the TA's will help you do it. and attendance and you can walk away with an A. homework is worth more than the midterm and final. EASY CLASS!!

Yeah he's not a great prof, his accent is impossible to understand and you may not learn anything at all. Doesn't matter to me since I took this class because I had to and never liked math anyway. It's super easy to get a good grade which is all that matters to me; not bummed that I didn't learn anything because I walked away with a GPA boost!

Yang Su is the worst professor I've ever had. I don't understand why he still has a job at UCI. Spends too much time on probability. Complicates everything, gets butt hurt if you critique him during lecture. Gives points for lecture otherwise nobody would show. Better to take Social Science stats instead since you dont switch professors every qtr.

Professor Su is a one of the best professors. He is very knowledgeable, interesting, and nice; he has experienced amazing events throughout history. He is also not a hard professor. The class is recommended for anybody who is interested in China.

He's overcomplicates things, I'm good at math and I still don't understand what he's talking about. Honestly, he just doesn't know how to teach an undergrad lower division class. That's all.

Agreed with the previous 10B comments. The concepts aren't difficult, but he makes them very confusing. The TAs are basically teaching the class, and we get dozens of pages assigned to read (for a MATH class). He gives points for attending lecture and lab though.

I agree completely with the rating about 10B earlier. He doesn't what he's talking about or how to teach. Complicates many simple concepts, and oversimplifies difficult ones. I've never had a professor as bad as this guy.

At first I was like "man, this class is going to suck!" but in the end I realized how much I enjoyed it. Pretty easy class as long as you do the reading. If you screw up on first quiz, he takes improvements into consideration so you can be happy. Thursdays are chill because of movies. Only bad thing is his accent.

i have never been compelled to come and comment about a professor until now, this is the worst professor i've ever had. Not to be mean but honestly you can't understand anything this man is saying his accent is so thick. Not to mention he is a horrible teacher. He is incapable of helping his students by actually teaching...difficult subject

Su is awesome and his class is a piece of cake (read the books and studied his lecture slides for a couple hours before each test and got an A+ in the class). My problem with the class was that it wasn't very deep. I usually don't wish a class to be more work, but I feel like we could have at least been required to read some articles.

Really nice and funny teacher. Wants you to learn the material so he posts lecture online, likes to give examples + pictures, explains quite well. Makes tests easy on purpose, midterm and final only contain 30 questions each (has m/c and t/f). One paper 8-10 pages, mandatory section which is 10% of grade. TA was chill, she's graduating though.

Attendance in class + section is 10% each so go! Yang is really nice and funny, wants everyone to understand material and do well. One midterm, 30 questions, wasn't too bad. He made it out of 27 for us, 8-10 paper research paper on a social movement or about an activist/group. Lectures are quite clear, they're posted online too. Great teacher!!
