Zig is a great professor, I think for an intro class his teaching style wouldn't be as effective but for a seminar class I thought he was great. I found him very inspiring and he is a great black and white documentary photographer if that's your style. He talks a lot and tells stories but if you actually listen you'll learn something from each one.

Zig is a great guy and is super caring and nice. However, I learned more about photography by MYSELF than when I was in class. He talks about his life a lot, and is very passionate about photography, however he doesn't know much about teaching it. Take his class if you're just trying to pass, but I don't recommend if you want to learn more.

He made photography miserable for me and my friends in the class. I learned next to nothing from this class. He confused me and his class seemed mostly like a waist of time. He is a nice guy and has some great stories but if you are trying to become a better photographer and care about learning then I definitely would not take his class.

Literally amazing in every way. So, so, so caring of his students - hilarious - springs for coffee occasionally. All he asks is that you try - sometimes he can be a bit grouchy if you repeatedly do something silly, but otherwise, he's such a sweet guy and a great professor.

He is the best professor I've ever had so far. He cares about his students and when you have a problem you can go talk to him. I feel that I learned a lot from him, not only about photography but also about life. He likes to start class telling us anecdotes about his trips taking pictures. HE IS AMAZING!!!!!

Zig is a really great person and he is a good professor, he does get side tracked a lot but if that doesn't matter to you then you're good. He only had two big projects on at the beginning and then the final project which he gave us almost 3 weeks for. He does critiques for everyone & gives good advice. He is always available to help, take him!

Wonderful man who truly cares about his students. Very easy, only two projects. He likes to tell stories, and sometimes more than once but I didnt really mind because he's got an intriguing start to his career. He knows what it takes to get your art noticed. Zig is funny and can be truthful. You must take a class with this great soul!

Zig is a wonderful professor that'll impart with you knowledge, know-how, and love for black and white film. The pace of the course is set to teach you to appreciate the impact of B&W film as well as develop a personal love for it. Definitely take Zig if you're more into the craft. He's a little too nice, but he's adorable so no one blames him.

Zig is awesome! Take him!! He is very clear in what is due and he makes classes interesting and fun and we always get out of class an hour early. We only had two projects due and they were easy. For the first half hour of class we talk about what's going on then talk about photo and what is needed and due coming up. I learned a lot as well.

Zig is a refreshingly kind breath of air in the photo department. Unlike a lot of the professors, he talks to students like they're a human being and never looks down on them. He has a lot of great advice, but sometimes you have to ask. He knows when you put forth effort and will reward you for working hard! Take him!

Zig is kind and laid back. Too much for my taste. But he is a very accomplished photog and has a lot to say if you ask him.. so do it! In the darkroom he knows his stuff...I learnt more through my own experimentation. Didnt complete the syllabus, that bothered me.. but otherwise zig is a good mid-line prof who i'd chat with over a drink sometime.

Zig is the man! He always has story time the first 15 minutes of class and always loves to talk. I haven't learned anything but I've taken a darkroom course before. Everyone else is learning in the class. Critiques are really lame, but i guess that depends on students in your class. Other than that, i'd recommend taking Zig's class!

Zig: big-hearted fellow fond of first conversing with students before continuing with the class schedule. The class structure paralleled his PHOT 113, so consider attending either Intro or B+W with him unless you're not miffed by repeating projects and lessons. Zig brings a jovial tone to the photo department.

Taking this class as an elective, I had so much fun. Zig is a great guy and the projects were enjoyable. Some people say the Zig flirts with girls but I am a girl and I felt completely comfortable in his class. Speaking as a non-photo major I learned a fair amount, but I don't know if it is as much as a photo major would want, pretty basic stuff

He is a very laid back teacher. His class is extremely easy, and all we did was go over lightroom and printing on matte(the only helpful part of the class if you know anything about your camera.) He favors the girls more and tells stories about his life for the first 30 minutes of class. Usually got out with an hour left at least every class.

Likes the girls, but really doesn't like having guys in his class. He missed two classes and had us watch movies for three. His critiques consist of "Oh, that one is good. We should keep that. What do you think?" How much time he'll spend with you out of class depends a lot on what you look like. Class was pretty much a waste of time and money.
