Over four years since I was an undergrad in Lehigh's English dept. (I have since gone onto Masters and PhD programs at different institutions), which is all to say, Prof. Bross has had a lasting impact on me -- my experience in his class as a freshman and again as a senior continues to influence my work, thinking, interests . . awesome man

100% political class, no appreciation for opposite views, too much digression from syllabus.

Dr Bross is a far left winger and it clearly comes across in his teaching. I took his eng 1 class in 1994 and clearly remember debating him on pretty much EVERY topic. If you agree with his stance you will have no problem; disagree and that's a different story. I still received a good grade due to the way I presented my pov.

While certainly not the most dynamic of professors in the English department, he's insightful and knows about many different fields. Make sure you do the readings and turn things in on time and also be on time. If you don't do well in his class, English isn't the major for you.

Comment:
"Liberal Education, Hold the Education". His class is extremely political, to the point that it is off-subject. He is also very one sided, and while he listens to those who disagree with him, he's likely to try to debate with you. If you say something that he agrees with, though, he doesn't question it.

If you're searching for a class to fall asleep in, this is it. Everything is overanalyzed in discussion. While the class is boring, he is a good writer and quite helpful with assignments.

Short papers due almost every class. Grades with bad, okay, or good on each one. NEVER gotten a good on a single paper, and I'm an English major! Extremely critical and boring. If you don't agree with him, you're wrong. Maybe the oldest professor in the department and should retire immediately. Repetitive, unclear. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES!

Comment:
Brit. Lit. 2 with Prof. Bross was simply put the worst class I've ever enrolled in. Not a single student liked it. It was terrible. He's unstimulating, boring, and if he doesn't like your point of view, it's wrong.
