Comment:

Excellent and informative course on the history of Russia and the USSR with much thanks to Prof Ruud. With more than 30 years of experience Prof Ruud has to be not only the most intelligent but also the kindest warmhearted Professor I have had. However do the readings and try to attend at least 70% of lectures. Although long he is a great speaker.

I absolutely loved his 300 level class and learned so much from it. It was extremely difficult, but only because he expects a his students to present their best efforts. If you're willing to put in the work, you'll love him too.

Had Chuck for his 300 level class and enjoyed it immensely. Simply put, Chuck is brilliant and loves teaching. Although he is emeritis, he comes back year after year to teach a few courses. Still considering doing a masters course with him. You will learn so much from him. From a History/English grad from 2005 and soon to be teacher.

Prof. Ruud is an amazing prof - he inspired me to take more Russian history and hopefully one day visit the places we have talked about. I wish I know how to speak Russian, then I could have done my M.A. with him.

Dr. Ruud is super intelligent. I so loved my class with him. Too bad I won't be able to take Russian history, but I promise I will eventually take a trip there.
