This professor is good and fair. He is very detailed. You learn from his lectures. Gives a written assignment and attendance is a must. Long lectures? you bet! but you only meet once per week and what can you expect! You will learn and he is funny. He tries hard and it shows and respects his students. He expects the same from them Worth ur$/time

He's a nice guy, but his lectures are long and BORING! Sitting through class was absolute torture some days. He would play videos sometimes to make it a little better, but sitting through 1 hour and 20 minutes was never easy. He refuses to let class out even just 1 minute early. Tests were ok I guess. I would recommend going to the IAs reviews.

Dr. Atchinson is very knowledgeable of the subject. Good sense of humor. Knows how to keep you engaged on a very long lecture (we met once per week). Beware he checks attendance twice. He tells you that you will learn History and he will teach you how to write. He is RIGHT! I learned more about writing from him than from my English classes.

Amazing teacher! Honestly, if you put in the effort, you can get a B or an A with ease. Essays were easy, if you do it the way he tells you. He expects you to tell it like a story, so do no over do it. Objective question are easy, and he does not make them difficult. He is very hilarious, and will notice that if you pay attention and come to class.

I really enjoy Professor Atchison. He is very passionate about teaching history and that was something that I enjoyed about his class. He gives 3 extra points to the final grade for perfect attendance. His exams are a bit difficult, but not impossible. Lots of studying needs to be done for this class!

He broke his hip the first day so we had a sub for the first test. When he came back he was very boring. Things from his lecture weren't on the test. You would have to go look up everything that was on the review to even understand the question. If you are good at test with essays take this class. If not find a different prof

Extremely difficult class. He gives out study guides in advance but its 70% essay, and he expects you to remember and recall every little minute detail in a fluid manner. Grades very hard, I normally Ace all my essays but this guy barely passed me. Expects way too much out of an intro level class. Would not recommend.

I really enjoyed this class. Prof. Atchison spoke clearly and I stayed interested throughout the entire semester, not an easy feat. He gives the tools to get an A no problem. Study guides and essay questions ahead of time. The TAs were extremely helpful and the SI final review session was AMAZING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Interesting class. He is obsessed with baseball though. The test were 15 multiple choice at 2 points each and 70% essay. I never got below a B on any test except for the final ended up getting a high C. My advice is to write a practice essay for each topic and bring it to the TA. TA's grade the test and are really helpful.

He is obviously passionate about teaching but expects an excessive amount from students for an intro course. Every exam is highly subjective. I'm a straight A student and it was near impossible to make an A. Not recommended for non-History majors.

He was a good teacher, but got off topic alot! I made a Bon the first test, B on the second test, and A onthe final and one paper i made a 65. Ended up with a C in the class, just because the first test was 15% second 25% and third 30% and the paper was also 30% So just watch out for that, i was really UPSET

He is really passionate about history, but keeping up with him gets hard. And if you ever ask,"can you slow down please?" Apparently that's not a real question. Nice guy definately, but he expects so much out.I dread going to this class! You will never get out early. And SI sessions helped zero.

He's a very nice guy. I spent alot of time in his office hours and he was always very helpful. You have to attend and take notes. you get 3 points for good attendance. assinged seats, take requests for the front. use the si sessions. use the reviews to prepare for the exam. reviews are given early.

I like this guy. He has made history class pretty interesting when I was expecting to just fall asleep everyday. Notes are taken from powerpoint, and the study guide is given at the beginning of each section, with terms and 3-4 possible essay topics. Pretty lenient grading by the IA. Assigns seats and takes attendance though.

fairly interesting, and he knows what he's talking about, but don't take him in the summer, unless you want your summer to be ruined! his grading is based on his TA, so it's the luck of the draw

Good teacher that expects hard work. If you go to class every day and take lecture notes then you never really have to open your book. Write out you essay prompts and show the IA for advice, actually use the advice and you will get an A on the tests. Also, give some effort to the outside writing assingment for easy A. 3 points 4 good attendence

I don't see why he's got an average rating. He's an interesting teacher and the class is fairly easy. The notes are on powerpoint and are pretty useless because all you have to do is study the review for each test and you'll be fine.

Reasonably interesting professor. Tough class, but every history class at TX state is like that. Tests are hard, but very fair (mult choice and in-class essay) You will have to work very hard for your "A", but the professor is fair.

He is overall not that bad of a prof. He is, however, kind of boring. He lectures during class and if you take notes[more than what is on the power point] then they will come in handy later and the book will not be needed. He had an outside writing assignment that he gives you plenty of topics to pick. The IA grades your tests which are 70 % essay
