i just finished a ceramics class with alen and found him to be very knowledgeable but would of liked him to write down more of his interactions because it was so much to take in and hard to remember everything. His critiques do tend to take awhile but that's because he loves his art and can talk about it for ages. No textbook needed is a plus to!

He tends to pick favorites in ceramics class, like only teaches 1/5th of the class actual pottery lessons, impossible to hear in a group, and we didn't have any real course content. Drawing he's very helpful and fair marker... He is a very skilled prof though (amazing potter/sketches are near perfect). 3D Sculpture class was super boring...

Alan's class is always interesting. I find his critiques thoughtful, he has a way of pointing things out that is very effective. He is encouraging. Okay, he is a little layed back, but that doesn't bother me.

A very good teacher for a drawing class. He is extremely friendly, kind & understanding. Explains the assignment, demonstrates, then leaves you to it. He circulates during the class providing tips & encouragement or simply viewing your work. Difficult to hear at times, and critiques can drag on, but overall an excellent teacher!

Oh my goodness, this man is soooo slow! a question i found myself asking almost every day in his class was "wheres alan?" but then i guess laziness is expected of him as hes retiring next year... still, jsut have some commitment man!

why does he have to ramble on for way too long about things that are off track. Critiques are murder. Just stick to the point, make it brief and move one! You always have to strain to hear him.
