Between his cheesy jokes and his life lessons, I can easily say that Dr. Cirlin was an amazing professor. In addition, he is a great author and will assign you to read his books so suggest you read the just for your pleasure. He does forget about his own due dates so make sure you use your syllabus throughout the semester.

His class is really more of a life lessons. Show up, take simple notes. Skim over the readings and mention them. Uses the Blue books for midterm/final. Fill them up and you pass (extra points for each cheesy joke you remember.)

He honestly is not that bad of a professor. He can be a bit confusing of what he wants in terms of work but overall I did not find the class to be too difficult. Make sure to take notes; as his exams come from his lectures. Essentially, if you regurgitate what he lectured on in the exams and term paper, you will be fine.

I had Dr. Cirlin as a professor in 1989. To this day, the lessons he taught in interpersonal communications have provided too many positive dividends to mention. No such thing as "internet" at that time, but almost 20+ years of useful tools makes him amazing to me! Thanks Dr. Cirlin!

He has a hard to deal with personality. All you do is listen to his lame jokes and sometimes interesting stories. He makes you "compliment 100 random people" and write a paper on it. His tests are just write a whole lot about anything. It's about quantity not quality. He doesn't drop for attendance though.

The class is sort of interesting... However, Dr. Cirlin's jokes are NOT funny, cringe-worthy perhaps. Laugh at his jokes, play along with his absurd grading methods and talk to him frequently and you'll do good. Fun fact regarding his final, if you write what you've learned in class(I mean everything or at least 30+ things), you'll get an A.

First let me say Cirlin, is a really great guy, he is funny and absolutely adorable, with that being said, he is very vauge in what he wants and class pertains to him lecturing and you getting bored and lost and have no idea what it is the man is talking about, he cracks jokes which make him humorous but not a professor i would highly recommend.

Very one-sided, terrible facts. Repetitive jokes that are in no way funny. He basically wants you to regurgitate his book he wrote, over and over again, from his final to his tests.

I too, took Mr. Cirlin's class around '89. I cannot recall anything negative regarding the class. He was very passionate regarding communication. I too, learned a great deal from his class. Those lessons are some of the most beneficial for me today. Sadly, you could give some people free tuition, books and parking, and they still would complain.

I am shocked by the negativity of the comments. I took Dr. Cirlin's interpersonal communication arts class in 1989, and it was quite possibly the most meaningful and useful class I have applied to my career as an educator.

Do not take Cirlin! He is the WORST professor I have ever taken! He is arrogant and rude. Doesn't seem to enjoy teaching at all. He likes to hear himself talk and doesn't give students a chance to ask questions or contribute to the class. He grades very strictly.

AWFUL class. Lectures were pointless. He failed everyone on an assignment that he never explained "just to get our attention". He makes **** comments. He called me anal retentive b/c I asked how to do better on an assignment. Nice. The final is "tell me everything you learned." Then he judges if he thinks its enough. Not objective at all. AWFUL

Lectures are interesting. It can be confusing when trying to decifer what is necessary for his exams. Take notes and definately ask questions if you are not sure. It would be helpful if he practiced what he preached by giving a handout to his audience when delivering a speech that contains more than 3 ideas. Either way: when in doubt, don't(take him

He's a charming guy, but his lectures are pretty much worthless, which is problematic, considering nearly all of his test information comes from them. I also think the "tell me everything you've learned in this class" essay is a sh*tty cop out. Weird grading system, too. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
