She's okay. Is very busy running CLACS. Assigns too much work. Her test are extensive. But she seems to like the topics she teaches and the discussions are usually interesting.

Comment:

I appreciate the projects prof. Gingerich supports but I pay full tuition for a degree in Spanish, and I deserve the benefit of a good curriculum. I sympathize with those who are coming from Latin America where some people feel they have been marginal for decades. But let's be clear they have a chance in our merit system , N should not abuse it...

Comment:

Students have been unfair with this prof. She assigns boring hw but you can learn from it if U try. It is true however that she is more interesting in English than in Spanish because she is helping immigrants coming to NYC. She is herself a Cuban exile who went through a struggle in this country, and U guys should appreciate her multiple projects.

Se is not caring; she is way too busy with her personal things, and very stressed out. I guess it is no secret that she is not concerned about the Spanish curriculum.

Gives a lot of busy work. Not very substantial. All we do is go over homework and she calls on everyone in the class. Her class is somewhat easy but her test are very difficult and she wants specific minor details. Overall I don't think she really cares about what she teaches and seems to just want to get it out of the way.

Comment:

Dr. Camacho is not as bad as everyone makes it seem. If you have taken Spanish courses in the past and have done well, she is a must take. Not much work involved and would really boost your GPA. However, if learning Spanish is important to you, find another prof. All she does is assign hw and spends the entire class going over it the next.

She is a good professor if you are already fluent in spanish and you are just looking to get it out of the way. She is rarely ever in class and if she is, she is late. Minimal homework. Tests are easy. If you do not know spanish already DO NOT take her because she does not teach AT ALL.

We didn't do anything in this class except show up and go over the homework she assigned the previous class. I am a spanish speaker, and I couldn't even understand her at times. She seems way to busy to handle this course.

Dr. Camacho is undoubtly knowledgable in her field. She has great connections as a professor and her CLACS program has funds to help students. She as a professor however is a dissapointment. Told us to study 5 chapters none of which were on the final. Rarely came to class and when she did you could tell she had no academic plan

Iif you can skip this prof. in the future, please do so. You won't learn much, you'll be disappointed, you'll forget what you attempted to learn, and you won't want to study Spanish even if it is the thing to to these days. A lot of people are making good careers and ... more money than they ever expected to make with a degree in Spanish.

She's almost never in class but that's a good thing. I had her for a 3 hour DNY class and it gets pretty boring. She requires trips, I went on one that was during the weekend which was useless to me. She takes forever to give back papers. I got an A- in this class, she's an easy teacher, you'll do fine as long as you do the papers and show up!

All of you DNY students should just get over it..at MOST Universities a grad. student or TA comes to most of the classes. Dr. Camacho has done SO MUCH for St. John's and for her students....those who care to learn. Ella es fantastica!

Jesus Christ, where do I begin? This woman showed up to class maybe 3 times the whole semester. She also REQUIRES you to go on class trips, which are sometimes on weekends. She assigns a paper a week and never gives you a grade for anything. If you really want to "Discover New York", you better discover another teacher. You won't learn much here.

Youll prob get an A if you pay attention to the few grades you get back. she gave me a b+ on the midterm n when i confronted her about it it was obv that she didnt even read it. she took it back to "look over again" and i ended up with an A in the class. shes ridiculous n shouldnt be teaching but stay on top of her and youll be ok
