Comment:
Alison is a really sweet professor who really is enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the topic. She always went out of her way to engage the class and find guest lecturers and multimedia content to supplement. The material was a little dry as were her lectures, but overall she is such a kind and brilliant prof.

Alison is one of my favourite profs at SFU. She can be a bit disorganized at times, and the content she teaches isn't always the most interesting, but her quirky sense of humour and genuine care for her students more than make up for it. She's been a prof for many years but is still so passionate about her research, which is incredibly refreshing.

Comment:
Alison was one of my favourite professors I've ever had. She seems to legitimately enjoy her work and the subjects she's teaching, and legitimately care about her students. She's also really hilarious in an odd sort of way- she exudes a certain joy that helps keep the (often dry) subject matter interesting.

I've never met a professional so disorganized. There were no readings one week because she couldn't get it together. Ask me what I learned at the end of a class and I couldn't tell you. Her incapability to engage students was sad. A pet rock could captivate a class better.

Must have changed in the last 3 years, as she is the most condescending prof I have ever had in 4 years at SFU. As an A student, I was appalled to be spoken to like an idiot, and she is not helpful when asking for clarification (2 sentences on the outline detailing requirements for a 20 page paper). Will never take a class with her again.

A Great Class, Very Easy Going Prof, and welcoming, easy to talk to in office hours, and flexible with late assignments, not the normal cmns class!

Her classes are great, participative and informative. If you like to be part of the class, she's a great teacher, if you're always at the corner of the class, then she's not for you.

She's looks strict but is very nice actually. Her lectures are very organised and I found that very helpful on answering mt questions and working on the research paper. you may have to develop your research topic early if you want to get a good mark...
