Comment:

If you struggle with math I wouldnt suggest this teacher;I felt expected to know how to do everything beforehand, during the lecture we were supposed 2 solve the problems alone then would do them on the board but it felt skimmed and i was left confused. No calculators allowed on the tests, even tho most other teachers allow them. Really hard class.

There's no homework that is graded, grade is primarily based on multiple tests and two final exams split in two parts. Cares about his students, available after class for those who have questions. Lectures are quick, so raise your hand. Explains all the problems very well. Exams are roughly about 10-20 Q's. He doesn't give you the hardest problems.

He is the best teacher ever I loved the math because of him. If you are not good at math you should take him. His lecture is straight forward go over everything. Just take notes of everything he is writing on the board and study it you will get an easy A.

Comment:

We took 5 tests and 2 finals, and he drops the lowest of your 5 tests. Everything was pretty straightforward and he always stayed on topic. FYI just because he doesn't collect the homework you should do all of it. It's basically the tests but overall it's your average math class. Do the homework and look over the notes and you should be fine.

If you come to class, you will pretty much pass the chapter tests. He does not give daily quizzes. He lectures through problems in the textbook. He adds some humor while lecturing. He's a very outgoing teacher, would definitely take him again.

Comment:

The best professor I've had so far at El Camino. Only grades on 7 tests, 20 Qs each and drops the lowest score. Attendance isn't mandatory, neither is the homework, but you still have to put in some work to pass. Prof. Sampson is very helpful and he shows some of his dry humor now and again to keep your attention. Highly recommend this professor.

I am not one for math but in this class I found it to be really enjoyable and I appreciated all of Mr. Sampson's help and understanding of my knowledge in math. If you show that you care and want to pass he will work with you and help you to achieve that passing grade and understanding of the material. Talk to him before and after class.

he explains everything but sometimes i feel he doesn't answering questions but other than that I think he is WONDERFUL professor. He lets you use flash card on the test and give you a guide line on whats going to be on the test...

Sampson is a really nice teacher. He will stay after to help you with any questions you may have. Tests are multiple choice. He gives you very similar questions that are on the final. He drops lowest test grade. Homework is not mandatory. I like his humor. Best decision I ever made taking him for math. I am horrible at algebra and I passed

If you do your homework (which is not graded, but recommended) and attend class, you'll do well. Although Professor Sampson tends to go on tangents, he's a great teacher and provides you with everything you need for success. I love that he'll stay as late as necessary after class if you need help. I highly recommend this professor!

this teacher is so nice! he's helpful and even writes down a bunch of notes for you. i'm only saying it's kind of hard because your grade's only based on tests. no extra credit. do the homework, i didn't the first half of the semester and i struggled. other than that, it's a good class to take but you have to do your part

Hands down the best math teacher (if not best teacher in general) I ever learned from. I could care less for math, but he made the subject tolerable, and on occasion, fun. In both of his classes I attended he was extremely helpful, easy to understand, and unwaveringly jovial.

this guy is prob one of the better prof u will have, he is strait forward, and pretty much tells u exactly what will be on the test, u get a notecard and a review sheet that is usually in problem order so u will know when and what touse from ur notecard, obviously if u do hw u will do better but since it isnt for pts no one rlly does it take sampy

Good teacher. Class is very boring though. He lets you out at least a half hour early every class. Attendance is not mandatory. Usually, only about 6-11 students show up to class. If you can stand a boring class, take him. You will learn a lot. If you do the homework, you will get an A. No one actually does the homework though, since it's optional.
