She is not the easiest prof, grades hard, and you'll probably fall asleep during lectures, but if you put in an effort, go to her office hours (that really helps, especially before an exam!) and show her that you care and are interested, you'll pass. also, don't neglect the homeworks and workshops.

Lectures are incomprehensible, it's not even worth going to class. However, he's very helpful during office hours and the subject can be learned from the book.

Taking Prof. Cohen's "Math for Elementary Teachers" was definitely not easy. However, if you go to class, show her that you care, and show up for her office hours, it is possible to do well. Note to the wise: there's a lot of homework and she is a very TOUGH grader so make sure you know her guidelines before handing in homework (yes, you have to ha

I took this a few years ago and just ran across the page. Amy was by far the best math professor I had at Rutgers. Sure the material wasn't easy but if you put in the effort she would do anything to help. If you don't understand something talk to her. She's extremely nice and will do whatever it takes for you to understand.

Prof. Cohen will bend over backwards to make sure you understand what is going on...if you go to office hours that is...yes..she is a bit eccentric (runs into desks hits her head on the blackboard, etc.) but she really truely cares about her students...hard to follow in lecture...GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS...

Lectures are just proofs for theorems you use in hws but very helpful in understanding techniques. tests are pretty much like the hw's but occasionally something weird gets thrown in. 2 or 3 hw problems a week plus a workshop. tough class but i think all 311's are probably just as hard.

If you want a challenge, take this class with Amy. Lectures are hard to follow, but by simply going to office hours, it clears a lot up. Exams get easier through the semester, although the first one is horrific. Amy is very intelligent, although she is not amazing at conveying the actual proof techniques, which is really what your in need of.

She is way too theoretical. She has a vocabulary bigger than mine. She walks backwards into chairs, desks, anything really. But she really loves math and relates what we're doing to science and engineering to make it interesting. A good teacher if you can follow what she's talking about.

This lady moves way too fast. Which in turn hurts the members in class that need some extra time to understand the material. Not recommended for individuals that need time to learn

this class was hard but Amy was a good prof. She really showed interest in her students' learning and it seemed like she really cared! Lectures were LONG AND BORING and I didn't understand a thing BUT she did try to help (even though I still failed :-/)

She manages to keep your attention pretty well with an extremely projecting voice, not hard to stay up on material. Required homework and attendance sucks, but well worth it as she gets you to learn the material. Extremely clear explanations in class.

Amy Cohen moves way fast. She's an MIT grad, and so she forces you to get an MIT education on the subject matter. Her workshops were long winded & not useful. She cant make the material interesting. I recommend Wheeden, he teaches you the same amount, less longwinded, helpfull, just a great teacher!
