I took his class and was disappointed on how boring his teaching style is. Don't get me wrong- this is not a hard class. He's pretty lenient on tests. Do show up and pay attention because some things he discusses during the lecture are on the test and not in the book. If you read the book and study you should be able to get an A.

This is by far the worst professor I have had at American River College! I am a solid A student and received a C! It was his testing that screwed me over. Only 3 tests were given, between 8 to 13 questions (must write your answers). Very hard grader! You want a test with 100 questions so you can miss a few and still get an A. Do not take it!

His lectures are long & you NEED to take notes! Some test questions are based on the lecture but most are about the readings. You will have to present a chapter so be well prepared for questions. Skipping class & not reading will hurt you a lot. Don't bring up religion if it's not relevant bc he likes to insult. (p.s. I'm Christian and got an A)

This guy is super easy. I have ADD, so paying attention is hard for me, but this class, I was paying attention and participating! I must love philosophy. He isn't the best lecturer (he has a low monotone voice), but the subject matter was amazing. I took it this summer (6 wk) and I passed based on mostly what I'd heard and read & less on notes.

His tests are not too hard, and his grading criteria are clear. The lectures are interesting, but get ready to read a lot. If you don't like philosophy and can't study on your own, maybe you should choose someone else. Rogers expects you to act like college students and won't babysit anyone. He is a nice guy though. Love his sarcasm.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Professor doesn't care about students or student success at all. He just teaches and if you feel like you may need little more help, that is your problem. Have never seen a professor like him.

He is hilarious in a very dry sort of way, but he is awesome! He makes you work for your grade so you have to read and you have to show up .. if you do this, you'll pass. There are only 6-7 tests, no homework. He is kind in grading but you MUST STUDY! Take notes, write down what he writes on the board (VERY important). All in all, great class!

Do not take this class if you are not interested in philosophy, you will fail. That being said, one of my all time favorite classes. Lectures are rich and thought provoking, and easy to participate in. The professor is hilarious, but in a very very dry, deadpan way. Super fun if you have the mindset capable of comprehending philosophy.

Prof Rogers' class was pretty difficult at first. There are 5 quizzes, that's it. We had a 5 point e.c., what really helped me get an A was recording all of the lectures and re-listening to them a day before the exam. That made a difference of night and day, I started getting good grades on quizzes when I started doing it. He is hard to understand.

DONT TAKE HIS CLASS. We had 6 quizzes in his class all 30 points each. He did not make it clear what would be on them and were impossible to get the full 30 points. His lectures are the most boring lectures I have ever had. almost everyone in my class ended up with a D. have no idea why he is still employed by American River College. 10 years?

Very boring, but not that hard to pass the class if you need it. The quizzes are mostly on his lectures and examples he was talking about, and not that much on the book. Also, if you're buying the book on amazon don't buy the thin one 150 pages, it's the 700 page one. DO NOT text in his class.

He grades more on margins, spelling, length of answer, than on content itself. It's better to leave blank than to get negative points. There were only five tests when I had him. With no homework, extra credit, or any other way of making up points this becomes very difficult to get the exact answers needed to get full points.

I've taken him twice over the years, once for logic and once for philosophy. I got As in both classes- He is hilarious but his humor is dry and understated. He expects what you'd think a college-level philosophy professor would expect from his students. He's brilliant, eccentric, and I know he has a soft heart somewhere deep in there.

He's what you'd expect out of a Philosophy teacher. Class was an easy A. All you have to do is pay attention to the lectures, throw in a few comments, and copy what he writes on the board. His quizes and tests AREN'T surprises. I got an A on nearly everything. Fairly interesting fellow. I'd take him again if it was necessary.

Rogers is not for everyone. He is smart and a good professor. He will challenge your ideas but I have never seen him be outright rude to anyone. There is required reading before most classes but not much and 5 tests and that is it. You have to study for his tests. If you want a bit of a challenge take him. If you want an easy A/B do not take him.

Mr. Rogers is a unique character. A bit of a hard pill to swallow but if you by pass his mean exterior you will learn alot! Brilliant in multiple fields. Ask questions but be warned he is blunt with his reply. He will not baby you. His tests are hard but he preps you very well. Spell correctly and know your facts and you will get an instant A.

I was looking forward to this class but Rogers does not teach it well. He?s impossible to hear unless you sit close and is really hard to follow in his lectures. If you?re not some kind of super hero in taking notes you?re going to hate yourself come test time. I paid attention and *tried* to take good notes but ended up dropping in frustration.

This class was very easy! I don't believe he is bigoted to anybody, but rather he is not afraid to question your beliefs. He goes over all test questions and there is no homework. You will do well on the tests as long as you pay attention, take notes, can spell, and write with clarity. He has a great dry sense of humor.
