Comment:

Anne is approachable, kind and fun. There's a lot of work, but it's manageable if you keep up. We had a lockdown for three hours one day during class and instead of lecturing or hiding out, she got everybody working on breaking the news story. And she bought doughnuts/muffins for everyone from the library cafe when we got hungry.

Comment:

Anne is one of the best instructors I've had. I think Anne has a HUGE heart and it really reflects in class. She has a pretty clear grading criteria throughout the semester, although understandably sometimes things get pushed back (which in my case was always a good thing). I took all of my Jour classes with her, so all my knowledge is from her.

I'm not sure if this was just an off semester for her but the schedule was a mess we fell behind on so many things that at some points we would have two major assignments going at once. Class was such a waste of time but she would always slip some small things in that we needed to know so class is mandatory. So glad to be done.

Loved Anne so much. She cares more about you getting in your papers and doing your very best than just turning in your papers on a specific schedule which was nice. She hands back your papers to revise until she feels like you finally grasped onto the information which could be 1 time or 4 times.

Comment:

Ann Belden is one of, if not the best journalism teacher at the JC. She's very clear in her expectations and easy to contact outside of class. If you do the homework, you'll get the grade. Above that, she's interesting, entertaining, and has many years in the field. She has a lot of knowledge and is great at teaching. Definitely recommend.

Anne is the best and you will learn so much working on the Oak Leaf. You have to participate and be a self motivator. The editors are just students like yourself and you can't always count on them to help you. Be assertive and write as much as you can. Write your articles first and ask for permission later. This class will eat all your free time!

Anne is an amazing teacher and will work with you every step of the way. Pretty hard to do poorly in the class; just do the assignments. That being said, Anne is not especially well organized and you have to fight to stay on top of assignments because she definitely isn't. Check Canvas daily, twice a day - she tends to change things on the fly.

Anne is one of the best teachers I've experienced in my long academic career. She cares about teaching you above all else. She is kind and understanding. The class is informative and engaging. I constantly contemplated our class discussions after school. She is easy to talk to, and the best I could have asked for in a Journalism coach and teammate.

Anne Belden is a saint among teachers. She's the perfect blend of teaching and having fun. Her classes are packed with information open for discussion. If you don't take this wonderful lady for Journalism, I WILL!... AGAIN!

Best teacher at SRJC. She engages with students and she helps them to succeed. It's not so much about the grade in this class as the finished product, which is why you can keep correcting and resubmitting for more points. I found J2 harder than J1 because I am not at all talented with multimedia, but still an awesome experience. Thank you Anne!

SRJC is lucky to have Anne. She does so much for her students and the school, and never seems to stop working. She is always available via email. She legitimately wants students to succeed, helping them with drafts until they are perfect to submit to publications. Love her, and look forward to taking as many more classes with her as I can.

She helped turn my life around. Wonderful caring teacher who cares about her students and is passionate about journalism. I seriously doubt there is a better teacher, or person at SRJC than Anne. She is great.

Anne is by far my favorite teacher at the JC. She is always upbeat and willing to help students. She knows her stuff because she has been in the field. She is very forgiving on tardiness, late assignments, etc, because she always shows up five minutes late herself. I loved that her class wasn't a "lecture and take notes for homework" class.

I love Anne Belden, no other teacher has taught me as much as she. I do not want to transfer schools because I know no other teacher will be as good as her. If you do the work, you will get a good grade. Do the reading.

Excellent teacher. She will get you published if you are a decent writer and can follow instructions.Her real world experience combined with kindness and thoughtful instruction, create a dynamic learning experience. This class regularly provides tangible benefits in the form of published student work in a variety of magazines. Highly recommend!

Anne is an amazing teacher and journalist. She cares about her students and loves seeing them succeed. I know I could of done better in her class if I applied myself more. Do not take this class for an easy A. It requires a lot of out-of-class effort to write your articles. But if you're interested in going into Journalism, this is a perfect start.
