Comment:

She has a very forward, abrupt personality, which sometimes can be unnerving, but if you get one her good side she teaches a very enjoyable class. She is very particular about the photographs you submit and she lets you know it. The coolest classes are when her past students come in to the class to speak and show you their work!

I had a lot of fun in her photography class. She made it fun! A little challenging but I felt accomplished afterwards. She is totally cool although just be respectful.

Comment:

She wasn't a "bad" art teacher. That being said, she wasn't as helpful as she could be. Occasionally she would walk around the room and point something out she though was wrong and then proceed to fix it herself. The students who speak up and like to be friendly with her seem to do better. Bring your own music unless you like the stuff she does.

This is a tough & time consuming class despite previous experience, but if you put in the effort & complete the assignments, you will pass. Don't expect to take a few pics & get an easy grade. Photography is an art so you will be required to be creative. Despite other reviews, you can get an A with a full time job and other classes.

Her online photography class is the worst I've taken at TCC. I had years of prior photography experience and this course did not even cover the basics, let alone teach me anything new. I love photography and this class made me lose some of my appreciation for it. Her assignments encourage quantity over quality.

She is nice, but odd and brutally honest. She is very opinionated. But I did learn camera techniques from her and learned to take criticism. Don't let her dampen your creative side. Does not put grades online!

She says it is not an easy A but if you go to class and do your best on projects you will get an A. She is very helpful even though she seems difficult. I never did any art before her classes (two) and since her class I am doing very good and taking beautiful pics and understand how to do it correctly. I survived Barbara Edwards.

Comment:

Don't take this course online if working full time and taking other classes. She doesn't grade your photos based on their technical nature or creativity but on the content of the photos and her expectations are unattainable unless you are able to go into town to shoot regularly. Don't expect to pass by taking photos in your backyard.

Fabulous dark room class--a shame students can't take it more than once, given the necessity of understanding film for professional photographer. Ms. Edwards is very professional and an excellent teacher.
