terrible teacher. lectures are beyond boring and study guides have nothing to do with his tests. grades based on 4 multiple choice tests. do not recommend at all.

Great teacher!! Take him and if you don't do well it is entirely your fault. All you have to do is pay attention, ask questions and study!!

I barely passed his class, he is the most unclear professor that I have ever had. He would just come in and lecture without notes about whatever he felt like talking about. He would constantly go off topic and never once encouraged discussions. Grade based off of three, 25 question multiple choice tests. Very boring class. Don't take him.

I passed this class by the skin of my teeth. I did well on the first test, poorly on the next 2, and by the time the final came around, I had to get an A to get a C in the course. He is dry, and hard to pay attention to, but if you engage in discussion, you will do well. That was my mistake until the end. DON'T SIT IN THE BACK OF THE CLASSROOM

Do NOT take this class. I took World Religion in high school and it was still impossible to do well in this class. He doesn't teach. He just talks to you. Not even to you, at you. And he just rambles. Doesn't write on the board, no worksheets, no homework, no PowerPoint, nothing. All that goes into your grade is 4 tests. Impossible to learn

Really nice guy, but extremely boring. I would not recommend this class at all. It is difficult to sit through his lectures because all he does is ramble and go off topic. Not much homework but be sure to take notes (if you can even catch the point of what he is saying).

Interesting lectures, easy tests, helpful and funny professor. He does go on tangents that might seem boring at first, but he covers the material well and usually uses stories to illustrate the ideas he's presenting. Study guides before tests, works with you if you miss class, and helps you learn.

Greaaat Teacher with fantastic in depth lectures that make you really think. Nice and funny guy with a sense of humor. Take his class if interested in philosophy. Have to actually read the books a little to get the concepts and get a good grade.

Overall he's an easy teacher, I find that he has a hard time keeping bias out of the westernized religions (Christianity and Judiasm), some sort of resentment I'm guessing. He idolizes the author: Huston Smith, and at times uses his interpretations rather than the fundamentals out of the religious texts. Tests (Easy) and attendance are the grade

PHIL 100/300: Listening to his lectures is calming and relaxing. Material may be a little boring at times and he goes off on tangents on a somewhat regular basis. Hands out study guide before tests, goes over them and answers all questions, and if you can answer the questions from those study guides you'll get an A. Good note taking helps.

He walks in, talk about whatever he feels like. Sometimes it's on topic. Most of the time NOT. If someone asks him a question that has the potential to take him off topic FORGET IT!!! The rest of the class will be mind numbing NOTHINGNESS!

Very interested and knowledgeable in his subject, and very willing to engage with his students. Does sometimes digress from the main point of a lecture, but generally that's as a result of willingness to interact with class members and explore their questions or thoughts. I found those discussions interesting. You need to show up and take notes

He seems to have very little interest in actually teaching. He basically shows up, spouts off about whatever happens to be on his mind, spends thirty minutes answering wildly off-topic questions, and leaves. I'd love to have a beer with him and shoot the breeze, but when you're grade is hinging on it, his loose teaching style isn't ideal.

His class is very boring. He only lectures and you need to take notes. 4 tests worth 25 points each. that is your grade. is always late to class. if you want an A you have to take notes everyday, if you miss a day you wont get an A on that test. Overall, easy to pass, hard to get an A in this class.

His class is really boring and the tests are hard. Prof. Johnson goes all over the place(the notes). I paid attention in class and studied for tests and I still failed his class last semester and now I have to take it again. I don't recommend him at all.

I love Prof. Johnson. He truly loves his students and his subject and engages in lively and stimulating conversations with his students. He will go to great lengths to answer questions. Tests are relatively easy and multiple choice. he is a wonderful man who you will want to make your friend.I highly recommend him!

If you love philosophy, his lecture is excellent. I took his night class last semester, usually he will let us go earlier. Very nice person. The tests are easy if you take his notes and study the handouts. I think this class is helpful. I may take phil 300 with him next semester.

His lectures are very long, but if you ask a lot of questions it makes them a little more interesting. He is a very good teacher, but I wouldn't reccommend this as a night class.
