Comment:

Pieter's is difficult. He doesn't provide any feedback on papers/tests and doesn't offer suggestions. You get out of class 45 mins early every day, but he rambles in class. Plus, he's not exactly forthcoming about his grading rubrics or how your grade overall is affected by his assignments. Very frustrating. I don't know what I'm getting.

Would not take this instructor again. Grades seemed to be arbitrary. Rarely worth going to class, though attendance counts. Thoroughly proofread your paper - just one or two errors will knock your grade down & even if he has checked it, he may not tell you about mistakes.

Tech writting is hard. If you have two comma errors you get a b+. 4 papers, no revisions. only 3 people got As. Was i lazy no. I had 3 other classes,not much time to keep up. Do not fall behind at all. make sure you always show him your papaer the week before its due, so he can make corrections. If YOU DONT keep up you will get a c. Good luck.

Hilarious, in a different way. Mostly poetry and open class discussions, but I really enjoyed his class. Take Brendan!

Def recommend. He is very boring though! very monotone and sometimes is weird. 3 essays that are straightforward. he is very picking about mechanical errors. you can only miss 3 classes. the midterm was super easy! he gave the actual test with missing parts so it wasnt the entire test but you can still tell what was going to be on the test.

This was my favorite class this semester (Fall 2010). It was fun and laid back. Midterm and Final are challenging (but very doable). Read the book, do the assignments and GO TO CLASS!

He's a great teacher, albeit a little eccentric. He was one of those teachers that made me want to get a good grade on papers to impress him. Lots of writing, but plenty of time to do it. Lots of poetry too. Don't be shocked when he comes to school in a kilt though. Overall, he's a really good teacher.

Good professor. Encourages you in developing your writing and working with complex ideas. His lectures are more like discussions that allow students to develop their thoughts. His grading is tough, but he is willing to work with students to improve their abilities. He is fun and excited about teaching. Good prof to take.

Great teacher. Loves feedback. The only thing is he grades kind of tough, and only accepts HIS interpretations. If you happen to disagree he will leave comments on your paper that say how wrong you are. I thought that was weird because I was always told literature is subjective. He is a fun teach though. I recommend him if you can take criticism...

Mr. Pieters had a brain tumor removed a few years ago that he himself admits has left him a little off at times, but he's still very bright and knows what he's talking about. As long as you attend and listen to the lectures you'll do fine. As an added bonus he's a movie buff so he likes to bring up films to relate to the story or poem being read.

prof. pieters is kind of strange. he always makes weird comments that are just off the wall. but he is a nice guy. easy class. just analyzing poetry and writing 4 essays. he does take attendance, so be there. he never teaches the whole class. you're out 25-40 minutes early every day.

this guy is great. he takes attendance, but doesnt preech about missing class. he does lecture about nothing and everything, but he is funny. the assignments are clear, and if you do them, you will pass. i baught the book, but i couldve probably passed without it. take him. itll raise your gpa!

This is class is okay. There are four papers that count towards your grade and a midterm and final. The papers weren't too hard. I made B's on everything including the mid-term and final. He is a nice guy, but rambles a lot on tangets. He let class out early though almost everyday. I would recommend him as a professor.

All I have to say is wow... I think this may be my worst teacher ever. Two errors and your getting a D on your paper, three and your done for. Not very clear at all when it comes to explaining stuff. If you have a question about anything he does he becomes a kid and fusses.Once you make a mistake your screwed he will dislike you forever!

So far in class, he's been sarcastic, a tough grader, not helpful, and demanding. I asked for help and he told me to just start making better grades... Don't take this guy unless you are a perfect technical communication student.
