His lectures are horrible, 2 hour lecture where you'll learn nothing, I had to go teach myself the material at home. HW is never graded so all the weight is on the 3 exams and final(tough! material not even discussed in class was on the final) Does not use canvas and will not discuss the grades with you, not very accessible outside of class

Comment:

Old school professor, chalkboard and book heavy. Hands out copies of powerpoints for lecture, assigns questions from the book then works them out together in class. The exams are BRUTAL. Open note but very difficult. Tries to curve and give partial credit but averages for exams ran very low. Do not text or talk during class, big on respect.

Physics 111 Cheikh Gaye at Phoenix College was great! There are not a lot of tests, and homework isn't graded, so each test carries a lot of weight. Please study outside of class and complete the homework, even though it isn't graded! This is a hard class, but if you show up and work hard, you will do well.

Comment:

Professor Gaye is one of the hardest working instructors Ive ever had. He shows solutions using the common core method, then new math, and then occasionally in French for a student who went to French schools prior to immigrating. Hes compassionate and engaging. Id definitely recommend him. He does not like it if you miss class.

HARDEST CLASS EVER! I will not recommend this teacher. He does not know the definition of the word 'teach'. He quickly goes through the material and even though he explains it again, he does not take the time to help individuals that struggle with math. He is not accessible outside of class. More than half of the students withdrew his class midway.

This professor is such a great teacher!! This is a tough subject within itself, but he makes it as easy as possible, you just have to make sure to invest the time because that will definitely dictate the grade you will end up with. I say take him and you won't regret it.

I have been working on my higher education for many years. I have never had a more passionate, understanding and encouraging professor. Professor Gaye is not only the aforementioned but fair and tough. His mentoring in mathematics is second to none. It will not be an easy grade but you will earn and appreciate the effort he required to obtain it.

Mr. Cheikh Gaye is a wonderful professor! Not only does he care about assisting students and accommodating their individual needs, Mr. Gaye also teaches Math in a way that allows me to clearly understand all the material that was taught in my Triginometrry class. I highly recommend him for your next math teacher. Thank you Mr. Gaye!

Mr. Gaye is a great Math teacher. He has a way to explain complicated mathematics very easy to understand. He is easy going. However he is expecting you to do the homework. If you do your homework and attend class, you will most likely be ok.

Definitely knows his stuff. He was an Industrial Engineer major and loves the subject. He does not give review sheets and says "Read the chapters" which is kind of ehh.. It feels like we don't cover some test material. Good sense of humor! Likes to cracks jokes. Do your homework and you'll be fine. Or else, "game over".

Comment:

One of the best teachers I've ever had! He makes math enjoyable and he has a good sense of humor. He genuinely cares if you understand what he is teaching and if you have a question, he will walk you entirely through it. Make sure you attend every class because he gives out important information and always always do homework, it will help you with the tests! *Also on tests show all work if you were on the right track he'll give you points towards it!

Great teacher! Very friendly. Best way to do well in this class is bu taking notes (unlike many instructors he gives you plenty of time to write them down), and also to work the problems on your own.

The instructor focuses on "what's important" to learn. You'll get what you need from learning, without spending a lot of time on fluffy, non-relevant topics within math. He is easy-going, but intolerant of non-attendance or lack of study. I have taken 2 classes from him, and would recommend this instructor to all.

Cheich is an awesome teacher! He is compassionate,funny, flexible, caring...taking whatever time needed to ensure that even the slowest students "get it". Although he has a very high IQ and well educated, he doesn't talk down to you or make you feel stupid. Phoenix College is lucky to have Cheich. You go Cheich!!!

Professor Cheikh was a awesome math teacher, best teacher I have ever had in a math class. I would recommend him to anyone who needs help in math he is very understanding and really cares about his students. He wants to make sure you understand math and is willing to help you get there!
