Great teaching but very demanding. Exceptional one-on-one. Student learning is definitely a high priority. I really enjoyed how she taught, with such intensity.

She is awful. She is unclear, demanding, she might be a robot, no personality and mean. She grades hard and then tell the entire class we are the problem. One time I sneezed and she told me not to interrupt her. Take history classes with Phil Cole.

I have mixed feelings on Prof. Holden. while it is true that she rlly knows her stuff and is into the Slavic community, she can be really snappy and almost rude if you do something wrong, and she makes you feel stupid if you answer a question incorrectly. her papers and tests are not really hard, but make sure you do well or she'll have your head!

You know everyone seems to hate Prof. Holden. I like her. Yes, she's cranky, but I think more to the point she expects students to be respectful and responsible in her class. If you don't want her to comment on a wrong answer don't be wrong. So yes she's cranky but a great history professor. She makes it interesting & there is no reason for an F.

She is a petty, cranky woman who enjoys being rude and inconsiderate. If you arrive late, talk aloud, answer a question wrong, or open a soda in her class, you will either get a disparaging look or have some sort of comment made by her. Whatever you do, do not disagree with her. If she dislikes you for some unknown reason, be warned!

Prof. Holden is a good professor but you have to do the work in her class. She has not tolerance for those who aren't prepared or haven't done the work. Not a warm and fuzzy person but none the less she is a great teacher. She knows her stuff and is very plugged into the Slavic Studies community.

This is the most horrible professor/person in the entire world. I spent three weeks with her on a trip abroad for a summer semester and it was essentially a living hell. She belittles the students and never listens to anyone. There is so much more to list, but I don't have the space. She is evil, never take a class with her.

Everyone is pretty rough on prof. holden. I think she picks favorites, and you can be a fav. very easily by doing all your work, and comming prepared everytime. one mistake, and you can lose favor with her. BUT i think she is fair, and def. knows her histroy :) Goodluck...

This might be a little unfair to rate her (I took a class with her 6 years ago. The class still haunts me)I will go out of my way to never take another class with her again.unclear on tests and in class lectures. It was horrible. I have no idea how I got a B+. It still confuses me to this day!

Militant**** would be a good way to describe her. She is patronizing to the point of hurting students feelings and you're afraid of her in lecture. Tests are fairly comprehensive but not hard. Strangely, she is a pretty nice person outside of class.

Kind of snappy in class, but VERY helpful and sweet outside of class. Her tests are indeed very hard, but they are not impossible...and I learned so much. I'd recommend her if you're not too sensitive and are NOT a slacker.
