I absolutley adore her and will go out of my way just to take a class with her. She is amazing. Knowledgable. Can explain things well. Will answer any and all questions. Open minded. Love her. Lots of reading but it is worth it. One of the professors i will truly miss after graduation.

Dr. Freeland is eccentric and tasteful. Her class is designed around power point lectures that summarize the chapters from 2 books over the course of the semester. She assigns weekly 1-2 page essays that are graded with extreme lenience. She has a midterm and a final which both consist of 2 two page papers over varied topics of your choice.

Took the course online. There is a lot of reading (long, though interesting text lectures). Two textbooks required for the course. Extra-credit opportunities available. Four units, covering the PresocraticsPlatoAristotleHellenistic philosophy. Four essays; she grades hard, but gives feedback. Short assignments that are engaging.

Dr. Freeland is a wonderful character. She's highly respected in her field, but still she speaks in a fun & casual but yet highly intelligent manner. Lectures fly. Took her for Philosophy and The Arts as an elective because I had her before. This topic is her specialty, you will learn a lot and stay interested. Short papers and 2 take home essays.

One of the best professor in UH. Super famous in her field. Unlike other famous professor, she actually spent a considerable amount of times working with her student if needed. Have taken 5 class with her so far

Not a hard course but poorly organized. We had about twenty assignments and keeping up with everything was a challenge. Lectures were passable but not exceptional. Poor graduate student presentations throughout. Unproductive group activities wasted time. Lenient grading on everything. Overall, good teacher but daunting workload. Would take again.

One of the more accomplished professors out there! She is an amazing lady and more than fair on her grading. She is very responsive to your need for help with good direction. The old adage applies: show up, be prepared, and the rest will handle itself. You owe it to yourself to study with and for her. She also has a huge heart!

She's so funny. Her classes are fun to go to but kinda complicated. Aesthetics is a very interesting course attending will def help. She gives out notes and grades only on papers which are not hard to do as long as you were in class, have her notes, and can back up your opnion. DEF TAKE HER SHE'S SO NICE. :)

Attendance mandatory. Classes are dragged on and feel never-ending. Although she is nice, this class is basically for those art loving/art history major students because she was boring throughout the whole semester. Way too many papers just like the other students said and she's grades very hard. I think i barely pulled off a B..maybe even a c.

DO NOT take this class if you're not good at writing! Paper are hard and confusing, plus they are graded hard too. 6 art log entries, 2 mid-term essays, 7-10 paper, and 2 final essays. If you're not interested in art this class will be very boring and difficult.

This is an all-essay class. I really did not enjoy the teaching style and every class seemed to last forever. A very nice professor, but too much work and not enough structure

Run from this class! It is a waste of time in my mind. Attendance is mandatory. 6 art logs, two exams, and a research project. In class you are shown boring pictures. Lectures are not very informative either.

I absolutely adore Dr. Freeland and I don't know why people don't like this class. It's a very interesting class and she knows what she's talking about. I reccommend this class to people who like to write; but you should take Dr. Freeland if you ever get a chance- not just for this course.

I really don't enjoy this class like previous students have stated. Attendence is mandatory and it seems like we don't accomplish anything during class lectures. Art logs are pointless in doing and points are taken off on every little thing. I'm just doing this class for a CORE credit but will be so glad when this class is over.

Extremely boring class. Attendance is mandatory. 6 Art logs worth 18% of the course. One research project, midterm (2-essays) and final exam. I'm halfway through the semester and this has got to be one class I will never want to take again!

I took her a few times and enjoyed her classes immensely. Excellent learning experiences.I retained quite a bit from the courses, especially philosophy and the arts and Ancient philosophy. Easy grader, but a sizable work load. One of my favorites in the department along with Dr.Johnsen and Dr. Garson. I love her in a platonic sort of way.
