Comment:
He is completely unfair when grading and is very rude if you don't know an answer. Assigns pointless home works and makes you do 3 hour outlines of every chapter and takes off points if it is not stapled and copied. Don't take him.

If you are lazy and want a teacher to hold your hand then Roland is not for you. However, if you are ambitious and read the syllabus you'll know exactly what is expected of you and Roland is great teacher to have in your corner.

How can there be such a terrible teacher still teaching? doesn't teach. I've been teaching myself everything. If you don't answer within 5 seconds he'all think you don't know it and answer for you. If you answer it wrong he'll humiliate you. I thought to give him a chance despite the bad reviews but I can easily say he's the worst teach I've had.

DO NOT take a class with Roland. He does not teach you he assigns homework, you go over it all class and if you do not know the answer he will humiliate you, and trust me he will call on you. The test are nearly impossible to pass because he doesn't teach you anything. Worst experience with a teacher I have ever had. He is so arrogant as well.

Comment:
Not sure who was the teacher, myself or Roland. He rarely actually took the time to teach and instead assigned homework and tore students apart for not knowing the answers. Rarely communicated that he was assigning things and got baffled as to why no one did it or was prepared. Uncommunicative, extremely arrogant, and overall an atrocious teacher.

Didn't learn anything. He did not teach, just instead threw homework assignments and projects at us. Forced to memorize instead of actually learn the material for future growth. Extremely arrogant. Made the class do 4 extra chapters of study (18-21) while the other acc class finished on chapter 17. He needs to be an accountant somewhere not teach.

This Professor is absolutly horrible. He is not a good professor. He did not teach us or use the book. But then gave us tests on material we did not learn.

Horrible teacher. I hate how he always talks about his family, which has nothing to do with the class. Never teaches, only assigns hw and expects you to have it done. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY! Go with go with the other accounting teachers!

Comment:
I am not a fan of Professor Roland... his teaching methods are abrasive and he assumes people have prior knowledge of accounting before they enter his class. I am a 3.7 student and if you are reading this to decide if you want to take his class, I highly recommend Professor Thrasher or Augustine instead.

Mr. Roland is a very nice guy. He's probably a good teacher, but not w/accounting. I'm typically an A student, but accounting is not my best subject. Although this class met 2x a week, it felt like an online class. All he did was assign hw and go over it. There was not much teaching. I felt like I taught myself everything I learned.

I have Roland as one of my professors for Junior Symposium. While I can understand why a number of students would not enjoy his teaching methods, I have to say that he has always been very fair to me and treated me with respect. And my major is not accounting or business. His outward demeanor may oush students away, but he is a good guy overall.

If you "volunteer" at his SIFE Cafe you will increase your GPA by one letter grade. This policy goes against fundamental concepts of education. Your score is essentially increased for after-hours contributions. Would you hire a CPA that had all "F's" but changed that to "D's" by volunteering?

Mr. Roland is a great professor if you are an accounting student. He has a tendency to favor the accounting major's unlike the people who are required to take the class and have no accounting background. He is a bit full of himself and you will learn an awful lot about his family and his volunteer work, but that will not help you in the course.

Professor Roland is challenging, funny, and kind. I never considered him pompous or full of himself. He was always willing to help me and seemed genuinely concerned about my progress. He even made efforts to know me on a personal level. Wonderful professor.

Mr. Roland's ratings are bad because Hilbert is basically full of idiots who want every class to be some dumbed down criminal science course and get mad when someone challenges him. Pompous? Heck yeah. But he will bust himself if you want him. If you expect him to spoon feed you, then of course you hate him, go back to frontier.

I have been attempting to see him as the person the negative comments suggest him to be, but I've had no luck in doing so. I find him to be EXACTLY what my expectations of a college professor would be and even helpful. We aren't in High School anymore! It's all in the effort you put forth! Some professors just see through the slackers better others

he comes off as arrogant/self-absorbed at first, no doubt. but as you get to know him you realize he is a very good guy - just extremely driven and passionate about what he does. he offers extra help to those who seek it. it's easy to apply stereotypes but harder to truly get to know him and understand him.
