Mr. Gallup is the best. He is so knowledgeable. I wish I could take all of my math classes with him. When a student asks a question, he gives answers in complete details. He really cares about his students. If you have any question, go see him during his office hours. He is really kind and he will help you until you understand.

He is a nice person, but a horrible teacher. His lectures are useless and he gives so much hw. He gives extra credit, and allows you to turn in hw late. If you struggle in math DO NOT TAKE HIM! You will regret it he barely explains and makes you feel stupid if you didnt understand the first time. Over all just dont take him.

Soft grading, and nothing he demands is too strict. You can turn in the homework late. He provides material online that covers everything on the tests and then some, but you should be fine with just HW to study. The caveat is only take him if you're self-motivated. If you're lazy, you'll just take advantage of him and not learn.

If you don't know the material that you'll be "learning" in this class, you shouldn't take it. Gallup is a sweet old man, but he's not a good teacher. I don't think anyone in our class learned anything. I really would advise against taking this class, I wouldn't want him as a teacher again.

Really great teacher. Not the best lecturer as he is too caring and if one student doesn't understand he'll wait for them to get it. However if you work together with him outside of class you'll do amazing in the class. Very caring and passionate and has office hours all five days of the week. Truly dedicated to the subject!

I've read a lot of comments on here and I feel as they are either outdated or given by very salty students. It's a normal math class so yes you should do all your homework and study a lot. But come to the Math Center! Prof Gallup is amazing 1 on 1 and essentially gives you most of the test questions up there. He's also extremely caring. Must take!!

He spends too many times on a single problem, but he's really caring of those who he thinks won't pass the exam.

Been teaching too long. He does care, but he's too far removed from today's learning zeitgeist. He's completely disorganized, tech illiterate; chooses questions on the test HE finds to be interesting, as they might require a 'clever' trick to solve. Problem is, we're just learning and he's mastered it. Only full-time students will pass.

He's very forgiving with test grades and many of his test questions are off of his previous exams which he posts on canvas. As for teaching, his files are unorganized and he can get too caught up in a single problem, but when he's not stuck up on the problem he's not bad at teaching you the material. There's no excuse to not pass his class.

Like other people commented, he is a really nice guy. However, it doesn't mean his teaching method is also great. His materials are very unorganized. The thing that I really hated in his class is that he skip little steps, which it will be so confusing. If you are first time taking course like calculus, probably not him. You got to be very good.

I don't recommend him. His tests are short 5-6 Q, but half of them you've never done in your hw. He gets off-topic a lot by talking about concepts of the topic from later chapters. Gives extra credit by answering questions on the board. Has a thing called "late bloomer special" where whatever grade you get on final test can become your final grade.

Real nice guy, easy to approach. His teaching style however, is not great. Methods aren't made clear, and spends a lot of time on applications you'll need in higher level math classes. However, if you are good at self motivating and teaching yourself a topic, you'll be fine. Tests aren't too difficult, and gives extra credit for participation.

Calc 5c is a monster prepare to study! Professor Gallup makes himself available to students more than any professor I have seen in my 3 years in PCC. If you want to pass and get a good grade, keep at it, and ask for help, he will help you as much as he posssibly can without doing the work for you ahahah

CALC 5c is TOUGH of a course, im an a/b student and i struggled so much! I have a good relationship with all my past math professors, and they all say this calss is tough even for an instructor. Gallup is very caring and available in office hours, and usually after too! Great man, professor, and all around person.

Not the best at teaching. Jumps from one section to another, jumps straight into questions after teaching theories without proper elaboration on formula. Sometimes give old exams as practice, but final was brutal, only gives old exams as practice, yet no solution to them and is different from the exams he gives throughout the semester.

He changed lol. Was an easy A if you understood the "hints" he gave, which meant he told us what questions would be on the exam. Easy A. If you were in math5b spring 2016 you'll know what I know HAHA ;)

Honestly, the WORST math 131 professor I've ever had. Avoid at ALL costs. Doesn't reply to emails regarding important class situations, unorganized, and rambles often about irrelevant course material.
