She is a very caring teacher and just wants you to learn. Graded by literally 5 projects which are super easy. You will basically get out what you put into the class. Much of class is documentaries and maybe some power points. Really easy class. Nice teacher.

When she lectures, it's very insightful and you learn a lot of photo history. You will have only 5 assignments the entire semester. I wish she would lecture us more, and rely on making us watch boring YouTube videos less. Very easy class. If you aren't already a photographer, she will probably inspire you to become one! She's very sweet!!

Prof. Rowan is a true gem who was born to be a teacher! She's genuinely caring and inspirational to her students. She's a very modest expert and is passionate in the field of photography. She relates to students in a very personal and warm way. Textbook is an excellent reference and supplement to the class. I highly recommend any class with her.

Overall, a really easy class. We didn't have extreme amounts of homework, and the rubrics were pretty easy and straightforward. The lectures and presentations get a little long, but overall the class was really relaxed and the professor was caring.

Professor Rowan is a brilliant teacher. Take a class with her before she retires! You will think about photography in a completely new way! She makes every effort to provide opportunities for her students despite the sexism she goes through as a woman photo teacher. I have seen one or two students treat her like they would never treat a man.

Respectful and intelligent professor. Very helpful to all students. She is the first woman professor of photography at El Camino College. And has fought for opportunities for all students for decades. Organizes an exhibition of student work each year in the college library. She is an accomplished photographer in her own right. Great teacher.
