Comment:
This professor recycles his lecture. If you have him Mon&Wed you will only come Mon as he cancels class, vice versa if you have him Tues&Thurs. It is ridiculous, he makes you work SPSS and he does not even show you how to do it. You only have one exam which does not even make sense since he does not lecture and reads of his slides. Avoid HIM!

Fairly easy go lucky kind of teacher. Readings are easy and the one page memos you write from the readings are simple anyone can do them. your grade consists of the memos, 1 final exam (thats curved), and a group computer simulation. if you're taking a mon/wed or tues/thurs class, he'll tell you to only meet up on monday or tuesday.

The worst professor at CSUN! You think you're doing fine during the semester but at the end, he fails students. His exam is a joke! Almost everyone fails, which is not normal. The project is extremely hard and he doesn't grade them fairly. At the end, you'll get surprised when you see your grade. Take another professor that knows how to teach!!!

Easy class and one group project. Only has class half the time. One test that everyone WOULD fail, but it is graded on a curve. Nice guy, responds to emails quickly.

He is a decent professor. One final and a group project. make sure to pick a good topic and group. For the one test (final) just look over the pp. Book was not needed.

I think he is average to good. He understands the material well but could be a bit more direct with his communication. He could also control the class better and reduce the cross-talk and chatter.

Professor Ackerman is very well-versed in marketing research, but just not equipped enough to teach it. Participation is subjective but he creates a great environment for discussion and feedback on your report. The exam was a joke, so start studying as early as you can.

This is the class for the procrastinator. You have very little work the entire semester and it all piles up in the last 3 weeks with a cumulative exam and a group project. I suggest not buying the book, rent it, youre only going to need it for the week of and get a good group. Very nice man, kind of weird. Attendance counts.

You would think he would have it figured out being a market researcher.. but nope. Acknowledges students procrastinate but gives only one midterm on 16 chapters and claims he makes the test hard so people will learn the material. Hey moron, try making 4 midterms on 4 chapters and that way students will actually read the chapters.

Interesting professor, He does know the material but has a unique way of teaching his classes. Attendance, class participation matters a lot. One final which was hard ( no midterms) and one project. Try to keep the project simple! It is not a hard class. I would totally recommend professor Ackerman.

Feel obliged to write this and save fellow csun students the disappointment I am feeling with the professor and class. I took it hoping to acquire some skills or further understanding of marketing metrics- but no, not here. Very unorganized class, lectures, lesson plans AND assignments seem all on whim. Does not go beyond elementary calculations.

This class is an incredibly easy A if you are a good student. His test is a conglomeration of his PowerPoints and the book, memorize all diagrams. He grades the project solely based on the quantity and variety of statistical analyses. I studied for his test 2 days in advance and did 75%+ of the project in 3 days. Great class for procrastinating.

Ackerman is a tough grader for sure - the test had really nothing to do with marketing but everything to do with the tiniest details from the cases we studied. The online simulation was hard to figure out in the beginning and he was no help.

He is a very nice professor, he can also speak mandarin. Only 10 memos and markstrat game and one final. Final is pretty hard, but he does curve. But he won't teach this class for next semester.

Probably the best professor for this class. 10% is attendance and participation. 20% are memos. 30% is an online game. 40% is the exam. You get full points just by going to class and doing the memos. Most of your time will be spent on the online game so really know what you're doing so you win. The exam is extremely difficult so you need to study.

A very strange class. I would say your best bet is to participate in class a lot to get on his good side, since I believe much of your overall grade is subjective. His lectures are irrelevant. The group project is the core of the class. The stats in that project are doable but hard. Just participate, have a decent project, and you'll be ok.
