I learned about the Renaissance, Christianity Reformation, Scientific Revolution and Americas Colonization from Huycke. I will carry this knowledge with me for the rest of my life. I might forget pythagoras theorem, but not Mr. Huyckes lectures. The reason for that is because he transmitted emotions. "Inspired me to become a Renaissance Man"

Huycke is the type of professor you can tell is very passionate about what he is teaching. Very animated in lectures, uses many different examples for topics, and will from stuff not covered from a test. Very personable professor who legitimately cares about his students and will go out of his way to help those in need.

Can I say enough nice things about Mr Huycke? The class wasn't easy by any means, I had to work for the high grade I received. But he was so willing and ready to help every time I had a question. He's funny, quirky, and really knows what he is talking about. I would definitely recommend any of his classes to anyone.

I didnt find geol101 to be to difficult. Huycke is a quirky funny guy and i always came out of lectures feeling as if i learned something. He doesnt review in class so if you want to go over something ask questions. his lectures were good enough that i only went to the book when i really didnt understand something. Amazing teacher overall

Mr. Huycke was a really good teacher; we had a mere handful of homework assignments. Clear about what's on the three exams. Take good notes and pay attention; I never bought the book and did fine. Be warned: an all-day field trip is worth 10% of your grade. Bring a backpack full of food and water; you'll be hiking with no food stops

Overall, he's a great professor. I've had him for Western Civ, Physical Science, and Geology. He's always willing to help you out and gives good clear lectures. Attendance is pretty mandatory, along with taking notes, if your planning on passing the class.

Best science teacher I've ever had. His lectures are always interesting, he encourages questions, and doesn't talk down to students when they don't understand. He really wants to help students understand what he's teaching, not just memorize. I can tell he's very passionate about learning, and inspiring his students.

He is very scattered brained, I relied on the book a lot because he was never clear in lectures. Flied trip was on a Saturday and was super long. Only 3 exams a quiz almost every Friday , sometimes with extra credit.

He's a really nice funny guy. But his lectures are pretty scatter brained. It's entirely a lecture based class. No homework, one field trip, and not much chance to raise your grade outside of exams and quizzes which make up a majority of the coursework. If you need help though, he is definitely there for his students. Hard tests!

While a great guy, his classes are not easy. And they are boring. Lectures are long and drawn out, and his tests are unclear and subjective.

He is incredibly knowledgeable about geology, but unfortunately, this class seemed more to me like a physics class that the glaciers and climate change class I signed up for. He seems to wander off on a tangent more often than is necessary. He is a nice guy, but is extremely picky about test answers, which can really cost you a grade.

This class was challenging, but not too difficult at all. Mr. Huycke isn't the most friendly/approachable person, but he is a very good teacher and you will learn a lot. His lectures are boring, but take notes and you'll be fine. He doesn't give much time at all for tests, so be prepared to work fast.

I went into this class with a bad attitude about Geology, but it was turned around quickly. Huycke easily became one of my favorites ever. As long as you go to class and take notes while he lectures, you will get a good grade. The field trip was very fun and educational. When there was someone who was unclear, he would take the time to clarify.

Professor Huycke is a delightful instructor. His physical science class is pretty easy, but he does a great job of making sure everyone understand the material. He's got a scientists sense of humor, and uses a lot of drawings/diagrams to help drive the material home. Will answer any questions you have to the fullest of his ability, great prof!
