Comment:
Class was a drag simply due to him talking nonstop, so it can become a snoozefest if you are not interested in the humanities. Other than that its an easy A, he shows you quizzes days in advance so you can take pics beforehand and easily pass. Requires you to buy like 8 books though, I only read one and still got an A. LOTS of extra credit

This class was such a drag. It was so boring because all he did was talk about the 15 books we are expected to read. Boring class but really easy. Didn't read one book and still passed. Nice man though.

Comment:
The class is easy, just read the books. No textbook and no homework. All the reading (lots of it) are novels which the exams and in-class writing are taken straight out of. Professor Lyon is a smart dude. His lectures can be boring and get off-topic but it's kind of like listening to your great grandpa rant at Thanksgiving so I actually loved it.

if there is one thing I can say about this man, is that he is educated and knowledgeable beyond imagination. He knows what he's saying, but the class requires a lot of reading and an understanding of what you read. There are some in class essays but all in all if you keep up, you can manage a good grade. Take him if you have time to read!!

I have never had a class drag on like the hours I spent in this one. He would seldomly be lecturing on what we actually were supposed to be learning. His voice was impossible to hear if you didn't sit in front. I got A's on all my essays, but I slacked off towards the end. Definitely the driest, most uninteresting class I've taken. Don't take him.

LOVED THIS CLASS!! Must get this professor, he is awesome! His class is one of the main reasons why I am now interested in philosophy and such. EASY ASSIGNMENTS. Read the books! He made the course very interesting. Exams are fairly easy as well. If you don't understand something, ask!

This class requires reading several books and writing papers on a number of them. If you don't work full-time and are able to keep up, there is a lot of potential for learning and thinking in this class. The professor is well-educated and even though he has a tendency to ramble or go off on tangents, stick around... there is good stuff in there.

Four quizzes, four in-class essays (2 pages), final essay and a final exam. Everything is based on the reading assignments (9 books) but they are all great selections! Professor Lyon is very intelligent but he often speaks in a low tone and can get off topic easily. Makes sure to read all books! Boring but easy class. Awesome reading selection!

Genius. This man knows what he speaks of concerning life. Since he seldom stays on topic, I learned you have to read the books or at least sparksnotes them, since the tests are pretty much reading comprehension tests. This man is INTELLIGENT. Pay close attention when he goes OFF topic, because you'll learn most then. Good luck on his class!

Honestly speaking, He is a really smart person, but he does not know how to teach well. He lectures off-topic most of the time. 9 books to read & 5-6 small essays to write. His grading is hard. At the end of the semester, he gives 100 questions final & 100 points essay, which take up half of overall grade. Don't take this class.

I took him after he'd just had a major heart surgery, so I'm not sure if it was that or just his age, but he is not an engaging lecturer. Way off topic half the time and completely unhelpful. 9 books, 4 quizzes, 4 in-class writings, 1 final paper and the final exam is 2 essays and a 100 question test. Oh, and it's worth over half your grade. Avoid.

I had no interest in taking this class at all (requirement). Prof Lyon-Buchanon really has a passion for teaching. He teaches as a hobby, that says alot. He only wants to open your eyes & tell you about the world. I learned so much from his lectures & all are from real life events. Read the books he assigns b/c his tests ?s are based off the books.

I was initially skeptical at first taking a humanities class, however, as the class progressed on professor LB took ideas to another level. Great professor, he is really into his subject material! We did have to read 9 books, yes 9 books though! But overall, superb class. Its not easy but at the same time its not hard! take this class!

Its very important you do all the reading from the books the Prof assigns since tests are all from the books esp about the author. Professor truly cares about all his students and you will definitely learn a lot from this class. He inspires and his life story is interesting. He teaches as a hobby, that should tell you something & he loves his job!

This is one of the most intelligent men I have ever met. He will make you think, encourage, and inspire! I'ts true, there is alot of reading, but every book is worth reading and hand picked by him. He thinks text-books are b.s. so if you agree with that, take this class!!! Well worth it.

The instructor is a very intelligent person, but is also a very understanding person. If you put forth an effort, he'll work with U. The class is open to your interpretion & that is all the instructor asks of U. Excellent instructor, the instructor main point is to make you think.

I love this man despite the fact that you have to read like 14 million books...well 9, but that's a whole lot in 16 weeks. He is brilliant, but you will not succeed in his class if you don't have a passion for Humanities. If you don't....drop it because you will most likely fail.
