She's a good teacher but those thoughtful questions will get you. Make sure to read all of the books and be prepared everyday for class because there will be a quiz. also you only have two absences so make them count.

Comment:

Amazing and inspirational. We read a lot and sometimes I wish she paced it better so we wouldn't have to read an entire novel in 2 days some weeks. Very specific quizzes. 1 Exam which was tough but do-able. Discussion based lecture. Truly cares for students and their success. I would take her again she is amazing.

Dr. Plant is a great woman, but her class will give you a headache! You will definitely need all books, but they are available in the library. Be prepared to read, take notes, and make up thoughtful questions! and remember: if it looks important, or you don't know what it is, write it down!

Dr. Plant believes that students are scholars, she has high expectations and lead by example. She is clear, precise and concise. She is available to her students and is very involved. She is a hands on professor who is truly dedicated to the success of her students. Be prepared to work hard, she is fair in her grading but her class is not easy.

Comment:

She is one of my favorite professors at USF. She talks to you not at you and expects you to be a student of EXCELLENCE in every way. She does require a tremendous amount of class participation so if you are the type to sit in the back of the class and be invisble don't take this class. Papers are easy.Be prepared to read. Likes group workl.

I took her for the Zora Neale Hurston course & she is a pretty good teacher she can go off on wild tangents but overall she knows her stuff & what she's talking abt. Just be prepared to write in her class.

although she was not blunt in what she wanted you to do, it was pretty much understood. this was not an "easy" class, but it wasn't difficult if you read and came to class. she is such an intellectual that it's hard to get on her level.. all in all, i would recommend taking her class.

I suggest not taking this class. Dr.Plant is likes to play with your head. You have to work hard in this class to still not pass it. You'll be a better reader and writer after leaving this class though. She never really taught class, the students knew more than her.

If you are looking for an easy elective, keep searching. Dr. Plant is very smart, and has extremely high standards. However, you WILL learn something, and you will be a better reader (and writer) when it is all over.

The class might seem easy, but this lady is very hard when it comes to test and quizzes. It's either all or no credit. I really don't think she can teach. Classes consists of the students talking about issues. Dr.Plant is also very unclear on what she expects on assignments.
