This professor shaped my life. His classes seemed easy, but only because he made quite difficult material seem easy. Don't confuse the two. You have to work hard in Prof. Haley's classes, but if you do so, you won't notice.

Awesome professor. Very intelligent and funny; expects a lot, but if you do the exercises in the books and study for the tests and quizzes (which are very reasonable), you'll be fine, and it's worth it just to hear him talk.

he is an amazing professor. I took every single one of his classes, and he asks a lot, but it's worth it. he taught me so mugh about writing and sentence structure and Noam Chomsky, who is freaking brilliant.

More of what's been said below. Fun, easy course, and he keeps things interesting. Loves to talk about Chaumsky (Chaumski?) something like that.

I really enjoyed Dr. Haley's lecture style - probably one of the best classes I have ever taken. Very interesting and he loves what he's doing. Very fair grader too. I can't believe I waited SO long to take this class.

Take this class for an easy 3 credits. Opened book maybe 3 times. Very easy with the lecture notes (that you take) and the hand outs. Also an interesting class and a funny professor.

A required class for language students. Easy, but he wasn't lenient about missing quizzes. I had a good excuse, but he wouldn't waive it. Pretty understanding. Realizes his own faults. Not only do you learn the fundamentals of liguistics, you learn southernisms too. A real Col. Sanders! Great guy

An excellent teacher; enthusiastic about linguistics and keeps classes interesting with anecdotes and stories of his college days. Not a tough grader, gives you plenty of chances to ask questions and clarify.

Prof. Haley had funny stories, loved teaching linguistics, was always available to talk, had happy attitude, and if people made less than great grades on a quiz, he saw it as his own fault. He'd also insert plenty of jokes about Jefferson County, Alabama.
