Comment:
Dr. Dolliver, who previously taught organic chemistry struggled to teach this basic 101 level course. Unless you took AP Chemistry class in high school, you won't understand the course material. She has provided me with such an inadequate basis of chemistry that I feel I might need to retake the course again with a different instructor.

Dolliver is an okay choice if you have a little chemistry background knowledge. Her lectures are not great because she tends to just work problems over and over again. She gives pop quizzes on occasion otherwise I would've never gone to class and just taught myself everything. Work as many problems as you possibly can for the tests.

Debra is a doll! She taught at UA last semester. She takes things slowly and explains them clearly. Much better than the other organic prof. Read the book, take really good notes, and go to class. Study hard for the tests. Any organic chem class is going to be tough. But Debra tries to help the best she can.

Taught at UA this fall. O-Chem is always hard no matter what. Only graded on tests and lab and HW. Lots of online homework. She's the better choice of professors. She teaches like we're dumb, and it's good cause O-Chem is hard. Her lectures help. Take good notes and actually do the homework, don't cheat, and you'll get a B, maybe an A.

Organic Chemistry is no easy class, but Dolliver does a good enough job teaching it. She writes the notes as she goes in class, which I found to be very helpful. I I put in about 2 hours work/day. Must read textbook, take tons of notes, do her practice problems, homework, etc. Her tests are pretty tough, so must study a lot. Very nice outside class

I passed the class. Here is how I did. I did her suggested problems every chapter and did them over and over and over. Her tests were long and difficult, especially the final. It was 13 pages of difficulty. Make sure you spend a lot of time doing the textbook hmwk. She didn't curve much. Don't reply on it. Was really brutal.

These people saying that she is extremely hard are not lying. I made a 76, 56, 55, & 32 on her tests. The 32 was the final. She waits until the very end, when you're thinking, "hey! Maybe I can do this!" to throw every curve ball she can at you. I do not recommend. I studied extremely hard, but I had an 18 hr semester & couldn't only study hers.

She gives pop quizzes that count as bonus points on the next test. If your final is a better grade than your lowest test score then the final will count as your final's grade and that bad test's grade. Will curve tests if everyone did bad. Really rough tests. Study your butt off on every detail. READ. Hard to know what to expect on tests. STUDY.

Do yourself a favor and take organic ANYWHERE ELSE besides SLU! Dr. Dolliver is a nice lady, but her tests are BRUTAL. I'm an "A student" and truthfully put in hard work and honest effort. Couldn't score above a 78% all semester! Final exam was 2 HOURS-13-PAGES-AND ALL THE BS YOU CAN HANDLE! ORGO is hard,we all know this, but this course was insane

she means well but its no help. she messes up in class and the students have to correct her, and she makes explaining things a lot more complicated than it should be. only way you'll learn is with a tutor and reading from the book. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Ochem is a hard class no matter who teaches it. Go over the material before class. She doesn't use powerpoints; you write all notes in lecture. Plan to study a lot. Work all homework problems and worksheets. Before the test, do the end of chapter reviews. She is very nice but she wants you to earn your grade.

I think she is one of the best teachers at Southeastern. She explains the material really well and gives really good notes, and I actually enjoyed going to class. She is really nice and very helpful when you go to her office. Definitely recommend taking her for organic chemistry!

I took her for both Organic lectures. She is very tough but not impossible bc sometimes she curves grades up to even a whole letter grade (10 points). Do the suggested problems she posts and questions from the textbook and you should end up with nothing less than a C. You have to study A LOT (at least twice every week) intensively. Worked for me!

I've taken both Dolliver and Fotie and I hands down recommend Dolliver. I've gone from failing her class to making a B. If you have questions, she is always willing to help. It's important to take good notes and do the homework problems and worksheets. Organic chemistry is so difficult but she makes it bearable.

Don't slack off and you'll be fine. Read and work her suggested sections and problems in the book. Work her help sheets and really learn the nomenclature. The best way to learn the information is by working the problems over and over. She's very helpful and does her best to explain the material. Would recommend her to anyone.

She was very hard, but she is very nice. She also curves every test. She is very approachable, and willing to help. She's one of the better professors that teaches Organic. If you study hard and practice a lot, then you will be just fine in her class.
