This class is a right of passage for every PR student and you will have to work for your grade. There is no slacking in this class; you will be in a time-consuming class. It is all worth it because you learn more about PR this way. Choose your team carefully because this dictates how well your project will go. And ask for help.

Dr. Witmer is a very difficult grader, and sometimes lacks clarity in expectations. However, she is pretty fair, always willing to listen and answer questions as well as provide advice, both professional and academic. Her 464 class was the toughest thing I've ever done, and if you take it, read ahead, consult the book and Dr. Witmer regularly.

Hardest teacher for this class. Recommend getting someone else if possible. She is a good teacher just an extremely hard grader and requires more work than other teachers. The class is a massive group project. GET A GOOD GROUP or you'll regret it later. Expect to be frustrated and not sleep, but you survive in the end. I learned a lot about PR.

It's impossible to get an A with the way the grading system is set up. Even if you get As on EVERYTHING, your peer and client evaluation grade determines everything. Got 100% on your project, but got 85% of the peer/client eval points? Then you got an 85 on the project instead of the 100. Other than that, she is okay and quick to respond to emails

Comment:
This course is definitely manageable and Witmer is not as bad as everyone else makes her out to be. Be sure to get a good group, or you'll end up regretting it later. Peer evals are the biggest part of your grade, so it's practically impossible to get an A, even if you get high scores on everything else.

COMM 464 is a right of passage for all PR majors at CSUF. It's the most demanding, time consuming class you'll ever take, and the one that will prepare you more than any other course by far for life post-college. Witmer is not going to coddle or spoon feed you information, you have to take initiative. If you do, and you work HARD, you'll survive!

I took this course online during the summer (5 weeks), first mistake! Second mistake, not listening to the rates on here about her! Deadlines are quick and tough. She didn't make assignments very clear. For a PR class assignments were unrealistic. My friend who took this course said she did her assignments based off of real events! DON'T TAKE HER!!

Let's get one thing straight - PR is not supposed to be "easy". Witmer knows this, and prepares you for it. You will complain, cry & yell, but in the end, this will be the BEST class you can take. It's not "hard", but you will have a LOT of work to do, but you'd better get used to it now, before you go into the real world.

Witmer is a good guide for this class. Most of the work is in your group, but she makes herself available for feedback. Not the easiest of professors, but she is very fair.

Dr. Witmer is one of the best professors in the Comm. Dept. This is a tough class but if you actually do the work and make an effort, your grade will reflect that. Don't take this class when you have a full course load since it becomes a full-time job about two weeks into the semester. Make sure you like your group and pick group members wisely!

Dr. Witmer is tough and so is this course. This will be the most work by far and potentially the most rewarding course you will ever take in your undergraduate studies. The biggest tip I can give - pick the best group possible for your team projects. I was scared going into this class but I received an A.

The class is difficult but Witmer allows you to learn by practicing PR. She answers your emails almost instantly. You'll survive if you can work with little supervision & take initiative to get as much out of the class as possible. Bottom line: she welcomes to the REALl world of PR. BTW: Make sure you go for drinks with your group to stay sane.

Witmer knows PR. She is tough but fair. She is accessible & returns email very quickly. You'll be working hard just to pass--even harder to get an A or B. Advice: Be careful picking your team. Take it when your schedule isn't crammed and use a Yahoo group for team communication. If you survive Witmer's class you'll be ready for the real world of PR

I took several classes with Dr. Witmer, and she helped me with my thesis. She is the queen of communications technology. Her classes seemed easy, but it all depends on your level of comfort with the subjects. I highly suggest taking her classes.

She is not a good teacher at all. It's almost as if she wants you to fail and wants to prove how hard she is. Extremely vahue and doesn't explain anyhting to you. it's like you are on your own. She was not helpful at all when things were unclear. Basically I was discouraged because I have been told I was a good writer and now I am unclear on that.

Very hard class, but will be hard with whomever you take. Very helpful, always available. Relavent material and tips that I use even in the real world. The most valuable class for comm majors in applying to real life. She's positive, and knowledgable of the industry.
