Dr. J was the best teacher I ever had. I was his student in a different world--back in the 90s at St. Xavier. I came into class as a silly, jingoistic, practically fascist supporter of America. He was the one who changed my mind (not through brainwashing or indoctrination--just through real, genuine teaching. RIP.

He was the best professor I have ever had! After my father I would consider him the greatest man I have ever met! His class actually changed my perspective on life! Reccomend him extremely highly!!! Trust me his class is amazing! I thought I knew about the vietnam war, but I didn't know the half of it! I never left class without wanting more!!!

He is the best teacher I had in all 4 years at NIU. His background is amazing and so are his stories. It was a 3 hour class and yet I didn't want to leave. I got really into the readings and even the writing assignments. You can tell he loves teaching!

I don't actually have Dr. J. for class but I recommend him ten times over. He is a much better professor than Knapp and I can say that honestly after talking with him a few times and having him as a sub once-an amazing man, very smart-a fabulous teacher. Count yourself lucky to be in his class.

Dr. J was fabulous! I not only enjoyed his class, I came away with so much knowledge. I would reccomend him to anyone interested in teaching, the Vietnam War, or life in general.
