DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Problem with Diniro's class is you only have 3 opportunities to receive a grade: mid term, where he uses obscure references to academics, final -3 essays (I am a straight A Eng major and gave me a B-) and a bonus project that is meant to boost your grade which doesnt. He is entitled, rude & refuses to disclose final grade.

"essays creep up on you" - well they will if you don't pay attention and cannot read since he informs the class verbally AND provides a schedule of assignments with due dates! He is a good teacher who truly cares about the quality of work his students submit. He rewards effort and mocks lazy students. Get over it! He's awesome!

Not only a bad teacher, whose classes are always boring and monotonous, but also a very rude person. He gives a hard time to at least 5 different people per class. I get the feeling he PRETENDS to be sort of deaf; all in all, should retire soon.

I really liked this class...but I worked my ass off for a B. He will grade your grammar with this red pin and light up your world with it. I advise you to get some English Department Tutor to look over the grammar one time before turning in your essay. BUY the book online you'll save a ton.

He likes students to participate in class. He can be a little boring in his delivery but explains very clearly and articulately. 4 essays to write, but lets you rewrite for an improved grade. 1 in class essay final which he goes over in detail before. 4 easy quizzes on the readings. ** This is a writing class and he expects students to write well.

The worst thing I've ever done in my life is to ignore all these comments and take his class. Yap, even Shakespear would not get A because of his harsh grading. To Prof: You go harsh on people, people will do the same to you, so don't be surprised when your class is canceled because no one takes it!

Positives: Communicates well. Organized. Sets high expectations. Does not put up with nonsense. Negatives: Grades too hard. (I barely made a B). Not open to modern youth ideas. Old fashioned. I took Modern Drama with Diniro. I love Drama. This class, however, is horrible. A ton of work. Reading. Essays. Boring lectures. No chance to have ideas of your own. He only values his own opinion. I did extra work but it had no effect. DON'T TAKE THIS MAN!

I'm a working adult recently accepted at USC. I took his class as one of my last classes bf transfer. Don't take him. He's too old-fashioned & full of himself to be encouraging to most others. Even if you can write, he prefers to invalidate your work. His opinions are the only ones that matter. Real hard to get an A and makes you hate Shakespeare.

Took course in summer. A total of 5 essays & 1 extra (replaces your lowest grade). We watched videos on major reading assignments. Just do the work, turn it in on time & all is well. This man isn't a hater. He's misunderstood & passionate about his work. He'd like to see students be passionate about literature. He is fair, I enjoyed his class.

DiNiro turned out to be far more pleasant when it came to grading the final. I got an A in his class, without any visible effort. My advice to you is, take good notes and don't try to analyze anything. Just write his thoughts on exams and you'll get an A. He loves loads of BS. Trust me! He's easy!
