The TA's name was joy and she was a Beast. So mean. He is nice but, it's still a hard course. If you're great at studying and retaining info then great. If not, RUN. I recommend Nicolas Terradas I took the course over with him n got a B+

I'm so glad I took Theories with him. He can get boring until he goes off on 1 of his hilarious tangents. WARNING: you MUST do the readings every class. He gives pop quizzes, but they're just about chapter titles, section headings, etc. I learned more about HOW to study than anything else.

Amazing Professor. He is very well educated and has a firm background in his field. He is very nice and funny. Great for African studies majors, International Relations majors, and Political Science majors. The class was very interesting. It is helpful to have basic background knowledge on Africa. He brings in great guest lecturers.

I'm not sure if it was the professor or the TA, but the grading in this class was a lot harder than I was used to at FIU. I usually average A's and B's, and I averaged a C in this class all semester. Clark is funny though, and he is helpful if you seek him outside of class.

His lectures are nice, the subject is extremely boring and he is implacable. Not only a tough grader, he has no sympathy for student's best efforts, as the other rating says, he enjoys low grades. Definitely one of the worst courses ever.

Very nice guy, interesting lectures, funny jokes?but he has a incomprehensible big problem with good grades, so as soon as he realized students did well on the first exam, he decided to make things so hard to the point of ridiculous. Annoying pop quizzes every other day. Most disappointing course of my life it had a great potential had he kept real

Dr. Clark is a great professor..he makes his lectures very interesting & he is a really nice down to earth guy. His exams do require a lot of studying and writing but if you attend class regularly and study you should be fine...if you are an IR major you should definitely take one of his classes.

If you're an IR major, do try to take one of Prof. Clark's classes. He's the chair of the department, so he doesn't teach much anymore, but he offers a very clear and concise analysis of foreign policy issues. Can explain theory very clearly, a talent which not too many have.

clark is a sweetheart, but that southern accent is tough to listen to all semester. i cannot imagine him in africa, which is what he likes most.
