He is one of the best teachers in the department. Yes, he is bluntly honest, but he truly cares about the students who show him that they care about doing well. Take his classes.

He has a completely different style from others profs. Basically, he just summarizes the reading and doesn't go real in depth with it. He's real in- your-face and can make you feel stupid, but I don't think he means to. I want to like him but it's not going real well. I'm glad I won't need another class with him but I won't say avoid him.

Melichar is very nice and understanding. Over the course you write six papers with no length requirement, and he has conferences over the rough draft before you turn them in. I got A's on all but one. A bonus-class is cancelled a lot!

melichar might seem intimidating at first, but once you get to know him, you realize he really cares. what has been most refreshing to me is that he seems like a real person, not just some cold inellectual. he reminds me to have fun.

He's not afraid of sharing his opinion, and he CAN come across rude. However, I think that's just his personality. He likes to get some sass back too, so don't be afraid of giving it to him. His class is EASY, hardley any work, and he sometimes lets out early! Don't be scared of his class!

Melichar is one of the most sincere and helpful teachers I know. He goes far beyond the call of duty when it comes to advising students. He can be cryptic with his criticism sometimes, but that's because he wants you to discover your limitations and work through them.
