He is truly a good guy, but for an introductory class it is just too dense/specific. I read the textbook for every test and could barely even pass, not sure if I was doing something wrong or something. Unless you have a passion for political science (which I do not) this class will lead you nowhere and the reviews on here were misleading for me.

Don't be fooled by his Canadian grading scale bc you'll still need to work for your grade. This class is extremely lecture heavy and you need to take notes otherwise you will fail. Tests are mainly taken from what he says in the lecture and some from the textbook. Went from C- to A- by paying attention to his lectures. Offers 1 extra credit.

Eagles' Comparative Politics class is hard. The top hat program does not make it much easier at all, considering its week 15 and no grades have been uploaded to blackboard. Attendance is always mandatory which is fine, but you cannot even be more than 2 minutes late as you'll miss the participation points. No class outline seems to be followed.

Professor Eagles was great. The class is test based but if you attend lectures and take notes you will do fine. He also offers extra credit which helps a lot. If you are thinking of taking this class with him, do it!

This man is very intelligent, and knows his stuff. The class isn't hard as long as you give at least 70% of your attention for lecture. His slides are minimum and the test is based a lot of what he says so try to take good notes. Good guy.

Eagles is a good professor. His course is a bit unorganized and in order to do well in his course I suggest you review all the notes and read the textbook. Look out for the political theories in the textbook, a good portion of the exams are theory questions.

You'll feel lost at first but to do well compile all the notes from the power points that he posts online into a document and use that document to study for exams. Got a C+ on the first test that was 30% of my grade and still got an A due to extra credit and more efficient studying. Study his online notes and do the extra credit and you'll be ok

Most unorganized prof Ive had at UB so far. Will email us the night before class to read 2 chapters for class the following day, as if we dont have other obligations. Lectures boring, read the textbook and you'll be fine. Overall would never take a class with him again. BTW he uses the Canadian grading scale, way more forgiving

Eagles is passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter. Doing the reading (and note-taking) is incredible useful for his exams, as they include a mix of lecture material and textbook material. He does bring up Canada a lot, although it's usually to help explain a practical example of a political theory. He also offers some extra credit.

You could tell how passionate Professor Eagles is about political science. He's a great teacher and all he wants is for his students to genuinely learn something and care about the course. He incredibly knowledgable in this area and he's very open to discussion and student feedback within class.

This Canadian Politics course is literally the worst course I've taken at the University level. Somehow, Eagles manages to suck the interesting out of every topic he discusses. If you manage to stay awake, he's so scatter-brained that his lectures are hard to follow. Plus the exams are extremely specific, which would be understandable if his lectur

This class was one of the most boring classes I have ever taken. The man obviously loves Canada and just keeps talking! He knows what he's talking about but doesn't know how to teach. If you are interested in CA politics then it the class for you..if not then stay away!! Exams were impossible!! Take a class with another prof if possible!

Professor was a good teacher and made the subject interesting, as much as he could. The grade was based on multiple choice tests and one project using stastical analysis. The project was rather complex in the number of steps required, but overall it was easy if you did the work.

Excellent teacher if you take the time to understand the work. Alot of people simply dismiss him as a terrible teacher, but I suspect that they never talked to him during office hours, or even asked for his help. He does come off as a demanding guy on the first day of classes, but he really isn't. He cares his students and really enjoys his job
