To the people who are complaining about him: You are not ready for the real world, or for the life of pursuing science. His class is tough, and expects the best work from his students. However, he doesn't leave you in the dark and will ALWAYS try to find a way to help you out of class. He is intelligent and caring. Hold up your end of the deal.

absolute worst professor. not understanding AT ALL with any circumstances. he expected way too much out of his students and thought his class should be put above all. hardly even taught in class and spoke about POLITICS in a BIO COURSE. his grading policy makes no sense at all. he is unorganized and a horrible teacher in general. AVOID HIM!!!!

I dont trust him one bit. He seems to be your friend until its grading time. On test and hw u cant answer a question with what he has told u in class instead you have to put it "in your own words" Try doing that when explaining chi squared. Oh he is also my advisor and has been for 4 years yet he still doesnt kno who I am nor that he is my advisor!

He is the best professor at Wagner. He really cares about his students and is always willing to help them. He explains the material really well. Definitely take him!

AWESOME professor. Hands out his own lecture notes, and tests are directly from the notes. Loves to see students do well. He thoroughly explains all of the material and LOVES to answer any out of class questions you may have. Really great and helpful professor, study his notes and you will do fine.

Dr. Stearns is an amazing professor and really cares about his students. He is willing to review the material with students at ANY time. He knows the material extremely well and gives excellent lecture notes. He is probably one of the best professors at Wagner. He tells funny jokes too! Definitely take his classes!

Tests are only hard if you dont study the material far in advance. Very good teacher. He is VERY willing to help in office hours and will spend an hour with you if needed. Recommend for Ecology & Diversity!

Not a fair teacher. Tests were next to impossible and were a crap shoot. If you were lucky you were able to remember what a certain bacteria looked like under a microscope. HARD! Avoid this class unless you have to take it, and if you do get it over with freshman year to get it behind you because it is not fun or enjoyable in any respect.

Does not know how to present material and is very uninteresting. He acts like he is better than you and that you are under him. He puts you to sleep every class and 5 hours of lecture is just too much. The final was oral and the rest of the tests are extremely difficult. Lab practicals count as 50% of test grade and are impossible.

I don't think he is very fair at all. He tries to come off as your friend and nice, but really isn't. He is way too anal about his exams for someone who really doesn't present the material in a clear fashion. He requires you to know every little irrelevant thing and write it all in essay format. Essays are 80% of his tests. A litle excessive right?
