I wasn't really interested in this class (Childhood in Renaissance Literature) but needed it anyway. It was better than I expected, and Dr. Stephens is pretty engaging. The reading is at the upper end of reasonable, but it's okay. There are only a few assignments, but they weren't too bad either. Most of the class is discussion-based. I got an A.

Great class. I took it during the summer so it went insanely fast, but still very interesting and not overwhelming. Dr. Stephens is one of the best professors I have had at the University of Arkansas.

As an English major, I loved this class. The readings were very easy to manage (1-2 acts per class session) and the discussions were still interesting. Her lectures were sometimes complex but she gives detailed study guides for her tests. If you come to class and participate, you'll be fine.

A good teacher overall, and she can be understanding if you go talk to her, but she definitely played favorites. Her lectures were fairly interesting, and she was the best teacher overall of the H2P II teaching team, but she was a pretty tough essay AND test grader in my experience.

No. Do not take her. Two 7 pages essays, two essay tests - a midterm and a final. Her lectures are ridiculous, she rambles, and expects you to remember everything she says.

Dr. Stephens provides an extremely detailed syllabus that lets you know when you may need to read ahead for a larger assignment. She provides outlines of every lecture online, so even if you miss that class you should be able to remember the details for the exam. Lectures themselves were engaging; tests and assignments were relevant to the course.

She took this class way too seriously. She acted like it was the most important thing in the world and that it was the only class we were taking. Her lectures were often extremely outre, then she expects us to be able to regurgitate that information on an exam or essay. She is definitely not a bad teacher and she tries, but she tries too hard.

She's alright, not sure if she or Quinn are the best in H2p II, Quinn is more interesting, but he's an ass sometimes. Both are hands down better than Goodsteen-Murphy. Grades fairly easally, but she does play favoites even if she doesn't notice. She expects you to understand everything when you write papers, but as I've heard so do the other two.

Worst H2P teacher. She's easy but makes you want to not be in the class at all. Her lectures are impossible to take notes from and often end 20 minutes before class does, but she still gives 5 in a row instead of consolidating them. She babies you and will not treat you like a real college student. Expect to be patronized and talked down with her.

The h2p 2 professors as a whole are much worse than the first semester's. Stephens is a pretty tough grader on the essays, but she's much easier than the others. Drills are kinda useless, as she spends most of the time talking about something unrelated to the class, but that's not always a bad thing. Take either Stephens or GM. DO NOT TAKE QUINN!

To get an A you'll have to read everything, and remember it. There are only two tests and they, combined with attendance make your grade. Attendance means asking questions and talking.

Comment:
Dr. Stephens is by far the most lenient grader of the H2P 2 professors. However, I do have to say that in general, ALL of them expect more out of the class than they put into it. It was a stressful semester with regard to studying for tests, and many people ended their H2P experience with this class. I earned an "A", but I studied....A LOT!!

I love Stephens! She is the best lecturer on the H2P2 teaching team. Everything she says is relevant, clear, and can easily be made into good notes. Love the costumes and props too!

Oh dear god, do not take another lit course while you are taking this class. You'll barely pass. Just take it with Candido. Very random lectures that didn't tie in w/ readings. If you want an A, drop down to part-time student status. Coursework overload! I kind of liked Shakespeare before this class...

She expects students to be like her and become book worms. Her tests are difficult and she expects students to memorize most of what they read.

Unlike the other team profs, she is down to earth, smart, clear and kind. Quinn and Goodstein are a joke... pompous and condescending and over WHAT? Stephens ROCKS ... and her cool costumes are the best!

Very clear in both drill _and_ lecture;interesting in both,b/c she gets into it(the sequined knight? hilarious!).Grades most easily of the 3,expects an amount of effort(so don't blow it off!)Unlike any of the other h2p profs(Mccray,Quinn,Fredrick,Goodstein)b/c she's ACTUALLY NOT POMPOUS! hallelujah

Stephens rocks! She is the best lecturer this year, a great drill prof, and a very fair grader. She has a great teaching style and sense of humor. She dressed up again for a lecture over Constantine, twas quite amusing. Smart lady, I'd take any class of hers.
