Comment:

I worked hard and got a decent grade.Was not a "slacker". He is a very poor instructor despite his knowledge.He seems to enjoy tripping up his class and doesn't take pride in his class suceeding. If you are in a remedial class pick another instructor. He will not help you understand anything, even when you stay for tutoring!!

I was impressed. He learned almost everyone's name on the first day. He was very thorough but it was tough since every test was crucial to your overall grade. Get help from him or the lab if you don't get it and always do your reviews! Half of my class seemed to disappear by the end. You have to work for your grade in this class!

I reviewed him pretty badly last semester, but now looking back at how much I retained the material he teaching style(or lack of), really has helped me in physics and calculus. Be prepared to stuff your toosh off cause he's gonna ask it from you. He really reminds me of the captain in "Top Gun" or the principle in "Back to the Future" :)

Mr. Smith is the best math teacher i have EVER had! (the people who have given negative feedback were probably slackers or something!) mr smith is super smart and is always available for help. his class is funny and laid back . he takes the time to learn your name. he also explains things so you can easily grasp new material. I love this professor!

This is an edit of a previous review. I made it through the class, worked my butt off & still only made it out with a D. He's disorganized, unreliable, doesn't care to help students outside of class, NEVER gives test reviews & takes away calculators before tests after practicing w/them for 2 wks. He wants u to learn his way, not like the bk. AWFUL!

I took him for Trig. I would assume that only two people made it out of his class with an A, and these people had taken the subject before. Overall I felt that he was unfair, lectures were often confusing and unorganized,his manner was unprofessional,and his tests were extremely hard. Unpredictable,unhelpful,has almost unreasonable expectations

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. All negative reviews are correct. Minutes before a test he told us no calculators, after we had been learning with only them for 2 weeks. He did not prepare us for several tests, not reviewing and studying the material after the test, saying that since the test was multiple choice, it was ok we did not know, "we had a chance".

He is hard to follow at first, but it's because he is teaching you a different way than you're used to so that you will actually learn the material and not just memorize for tests. Once you get in his groove it gets a lot better. The sighs are just his personality, don't take it personal. He really is very helpful if you ask questions. Recommend!

He's a nice guy but he is hard to understand for a fair amount of the time. The first few tests were hard because it took me a while to get used to his method of teaching; He doesn't put a header on the board or even a section number for what you're working on that day. If you're used to a very structured class, be sure to read the book daily.

Mr Smith is a great teacher! he helps you to understand math (where it comes from and why) so that you can progress to higher levels of math much easier.He also explains the real world reasons behind the math. If you take a class from him you will be ahead of your peers. Just pay attention and ask question. math finally makes sense ! thank you

He is not a good teacher. We spent 20 minutes one class trying to prove a trig identity which he could not figure out and class ended. More than half the class has dropped his section. I understand he is trying to teach trig with out a calculator but he does a horrible job trying to do it.

I like him, however, he is hard to follow. He seems to be under the idea that people already know most of the material or can pick it up very quickly. I am not that way so it is almos impossible for me to keep up! i think he would be great for higher level math classes and not developmental classes.

Incredibly frustrating and rude, deeply sighs any time he is asked for help then condescends to you while explaining. For someone like me who has never been good at math, class was incredibly difficult due to his stubborn refusal to not see math is hard for some. This is especially maddening since the class was a preparation "for the future" class.

Doug's a good teacher. If you plan to go on to precalculus, I recommend him. If your major is art history or something, you might try someone easier. Smith makes sure you understand the math. He does not teach formulas, he teaches you to derive them. His trig class is designed to help you later in pre-cal. He can be sarcastic, but is a nice guy.

He is good teacher. Fair, but tough. What I would expect from most teachers. Show up, be on time, do the homework, if don't understand, ask questions. If you need the help, find him during office hours and he will help you till you understand it, but its up to you to find the time to meet with him or go to the math lab.

you only need to buy the math lab access code, you dont need the book unless you miss lectures. He teaches you how to do the math w/o a calculator, intimdating at first. Can be sarcastic but is a nice person. test are fairly hard but studying helps alot. He is also very thorough.

Although many people say this teacher is bad, i disagree,but if you like to miss class you should find another teacher because when you do he doesnt like it. If you participate in class and show that you are willing to work for your grade he will help you. Grades on a curve somtimes and tests are multiple choise. clear explinations.
