He is such a nice guy. Very friendly, very clear and genuinely cares. My only complaint is that he is a little too obvious sometimes and "beats a dead horse" some lectures where you wanna cry out "Ok I get it!" but for math-o-phobics like myself he is the perfect teacher since you "want to get it". I highly suggest taking him.

This teacher was HORRIBLE! The only way I actually learned anything was from the Course Compass website that we were to do our homework on. Thank God for that website! Students would ask him questions and he wouldn't even know the answer, he would say, "I have to check it out, I will get back to you next class." This teacher sucks!!!!

Dr. Newsome provided every opportunity to his students for success. For those who speak poorly of him...I wonder how many of them actually did their homework and made a real effort. I am not a "math person" by any means, however practice does make perfect..and that means not waiting until lat minute to figure it out...Good job to Dr. Newsome!

Where to start with this professor.Firstly he will stutter during every lecture and you will wonder how he got into this profession. Lectures are boring and just like everyone else says his study guides look absolutely nothing like the exam that he hands out. His explanations are tedious and boring make sure to walk out when hes not looking.

I took him for inter. alg. and had more fun counting the dots on the ceiling. He took the easiest math and made it impossible. Good thing i knew what i was doing....and all of his homework is online. I never bought the book and passed with a high B.

Couldn't teach his way out of a wet paper bag- great guy and knows the subject pretty well- just isn't very good at teaching it to others unfortunately. This guy basically rewrites the chapters onto the whiteboard. He has no passion for mathematics and does not make it interesting at all. He also doesn't connect concepts to each other to let his students know that there is a grand scheme rather than a bunch of unrelated topics. (integrals more efficient than Riemann sums) Try finding someone else.

I loved this class. I have never before had any understanding for math. I earned all A's in this class. If you pay attention and ask questions you will do great. Don't be afraid to ask questions because he is more than willing to answer them. He has a great passion for this subject.

Why must he make even the most simplistic math incredibling difficult? Couple that with the fact that he says one thing and means another, and it makes a tough class that doesn't need to be that tough. Tests are multiple choice though, no points for partial answers, but easier tests overall. Textbook is a must as he goes directly from it!
