If you are interested in taking photo appreciation, definitely take the course with Ellen. She understood many of us had backgrounds of photography and built the course around our abilities and schedules, sometimes canceling a class or 2 if we were ahead of schedule. a lot of extra credit opportunities and the final was a group project

She makes class interesting and is absolutely hilarious! Definitely one of my all time favorite Winona State professors! And she also explains things in a way that's easy to understand and if you need extra help with something she's willing to go the extra mile to help you!

She is probably my favorite mass communications professor I've taken here at WSU. Not that hard of a class but if you struggle with something, she is there to help you. Has random current event pop quizzes, so keep up with news.

Ellen is amazing. She genuinely cares about her students and she has so much background in the field that she makes all the lectures interesting. I had her for Media Writing, and as long as you had the book, went to class, and did the assignments it was simple. She is willing to do anything to help her students succeed. Plus her accents are great:)

Ellen is a great professor! She is a pretty hard grader though, so if your work isn't perfect, you might have a hard time in this class. She is lenient towards extensions on assignments, and is very helpful. She uses email instead of d2l. I would definitely recommend taking any of her classes!

Ellen is great!! I had her for news writing. She's funny, silly, entertaining and a very helpful professor. Class was a lot of fun. Goes out of her way to help students who ask. Just make sure to keep up with your work and you should get an A :)

I've never actually had Ellen for a class, but she was very helpful when editing my stories for News Writing. She definately prepared me and her comments on stories were both fair and encouraging.
