Comment:

I took this Professor at CSUN. Nice person, but a very lousy teacher. Half the time he would never finish the problems he does on the board and has the same monotonous teaching method, so you basically have to teach yourself. If you can self learn/study then he is perfect because of no attendance requirement or quizzes. If not, take someone else.

Comment:

This is not an easy class, however, it is a better class to take for those who aren't a genius in math because he does not go too fast. Homework doesn't help with tests but it is easy points. Cheat sheets are a life saver and you should live, breathe and sleep with your study guide. Overall he is a good guy but this class is HARD.

I kind of like this teacher though, but I am glad to finish his class eventually ;). His exams are a little hard because he always surprised us with weird problems, but quizzes are easy. You get to have cheat sheet and Cal for every test. I did pretty good in his class, but i have to say that he is not good at explaining problems.

Definitely wouldn't take a class w/ this professor if you can avoid it. I wish I looked him up on here before registering! Tests are hard and nothing we go over in class which makes it extremely difficult to study.

great teacher! cheat sheets and calculator and tells you what problems will be on the test. i'm still taking the class right now, but so far it's great! 100% on my first quiz and 110% on first exam. but i must say, do the hw! it really helps. if you done at least get a B in his class it's because you aren't studying hard enough!

This is the easiest class I have taken in college or high school. You only have to do half of the assigned homework problems and you can use a cheat sheet on all the tests. He even gives you a study guide for every test and quiz telling you literally exactly what will be on the test. He only changes around a couple numbers. Easy A.

I couldn't understand one whole sentence that came out of his mouth which makes any subject 10 times harder. This made it impossible to understand the concepts of the class. His tests and quizzes were horrible, the first time i asked him for help he made me feel like a complete idiot and I have gotten A's in math for years.

The first day of class we had about 40 students and when I took my final we had about 8. He's a really smart, engineer-minded guy so I think it's hard to relay the steps easily for us to understand when they are so clear to him. He means well and is nice, but the class is really hard because he just goes through problems expecting you to understand

Everyone say Hes hard but I got A+ in his class you need to study and you will get an A hes not tht bad. I recommend him. HES EXTREMELY HELPFULL if you need help with anything. test are hard.

Dr. Shamash is misunderstood. He's a really good teacher, but boy, are his tests challenging! Here's a tip: study at least 20 hrs/week unless math is intuitive for you. Also, don't do the easy problems on the homework because they do not prep you for his exams. Study the hardest problems and master them! I'll be lucky if I get a high 'B'...

this guy seriously does not know how to teach a class. i had to re-take math 191 so i decided to take this guys class and instead of passing i went from not passing with a D to a fail with an F. AVOID THIS TEACHER IF WANT TO KEEP A GOOD GPA his class was full of about 40 students at the beginning of the semester...there were 7 left at the end...

UGh this teacher is not recommeded. Does gives extrea credit on exams but are not useful. This teacher is no good at all put it like this, the substitute we had was better in explaining better than him. He would tell us learn the approach not the problem. HE is not good dont take him The whole class was failing towards the end

He was an amazing teacher. Always helpful. He would let us study in his office during his office hours so we could ask questions. Very intuitive and teaches you how to figure out math for yourself not just know what you are taught.

I failed, but PURELY because i partied too hard that semester. This guy is passionate about the subject which makes his lectures more interesting than most math profs i've had, he is always happy to answer extra questions and help you out, he sincerely cares about your success, and he's just overall a likable man. Tests are kind of hard-ish.

This guy is more than useless. He contradicts everything he says. The class started out with more than 30 students and now there are only about 10 of us left. You can't understand one word that he says. Just do your homework and you're fine. His thick accent is hard to understand as well. Definitely not recommendable
