Comment:
Professor Orozco doesnt care about tests or homework or structured lectures. He tries to open the minds of chicanos and tries to share his vast knowledge. He tells stories that relate to the lecture and tries to make it interesting. Attendance isnt required. Tests are curved a lot. Participation is key because itll help if he remembers you.

Orozco take him with caution!! I only put his difficulty level at a 3 because you have to ask A LOT of questions for him to remember you. If you sit in the front row and ask one question a day you should be ok. If you don't ask questions he gives you a hard time in class and in your writing. 2 test and 2 writing exams. PARTICIPATION is KEY !!!!!!

Best professor ever. He is very enthusiastic about teaching. He loves questions and always has something to say. His class is all lecture based. There isn't a lot of work besides 3 tests and a final. The only reason people don't like him is because they are expecting a traditional teacher who spoon feeds them work. He stimulates your thoughts.

Yes, his handwriting is messy but just ask what he means and he will elaborate. Take notes during lectures and take pictures of his slides. He is old fashioned but knows his stuff. Definitely a course to take if you are Chicano/a or want to know more. He LOVES questions, so develop a relationship over that for an A. Tests are not so hard; lots of

educated, experienced, and well spoken. doesn't use canvas/record grade, unorganized, forgetful. once repeated an entire lecture and didn't realize he did, no one had the heart to say anything. curves the 4 exams. taking his class is taking a chance with your grade. TONS of packets passed out. exams are hit or miss. lectures or rants? I can't tell.

Awesome profesor. Opens your eyes to a lot of the struggles chicanos have and go through. Take notes and read the articles he hands out and you'll pass.

If you take good notes his multiple choice test are easy to pass. Don't buy the book you won't use it. Borrow it from the library to read the chapters if you want you, you don't really have to because his notes sum it up.

His class is supremely dense and dry it's painful. He doesn't take attendance whatsoever. Everybody agrees it's an awful experience but the tradeoff is nearly zero homework. 10 kids were in the class by the end of the semester out of 30 that started. Unless you're SUPER interested in the Chicano struggle in LA. Take any other anthropology class.

Just ask questions in class and make sure he knows who youre in the class. Honestly not a hard class. Test are just something else. Its crazy but I passed with an easy B. Just listen to what I said about asking questions and there you go easy grade.

Great teacher, really changed my perspective on life is a brown/ Chicano the way I looked at myself... Finally found how many people related to my experience growing up here in The States but having a Mexican heritage. I really appreciate him. He's a great, caring teacher.... a must take at PCC.

Dr. Orozco is a great professor! He does not follow a rigorous day to day syllabus like most professors. Also, if you pay attention you will see that Dr. Orozco does not go off topic with his stories, but they are rather significant to his lectures. He's very caring and participation matters. PCC is lucky to have such a wise Chicano professor.

No homework given, do not buy any books for this class because he always hands out packets that go with the lecture, and the semester consisted of 4 exams all of which are curved. He also never took attendance. He is very knowledgeable and easy going, my advice would be to make sure you at least ask one question so he can recognize you (trust me)

He was an "okay" professor. He can rant forever during lectures if you let him. He goes off topic; his lectures are unscripted and unorganized. He usually shows up to class with a scrabble of papers and pull out random things. His writing on the whiteboard is awful and don't bother purchasing his book. He curves every single test so that's a plus.

Lectures are unclear you never know what he is talking about. His hand writing is horrible. Don't buy the book you won't use it AT ALL. Don't worry about the test because he curves the grade. You can't fail this class.

Horrible lectures, unorganized and if you look away for one minute you'll be lost for five. His tests make zero sense, they don't even go with the hundreds of packets he gives out to read. He curves tests bc everyone fails them, mulitiple choice. participation as e.c. Our final was a 6 page assignment given to us the day before

He doesn't call attendance just passes a sign up sheet once in a while. you watch some documentarys and he lectures most of the time his notes however aren't understandable. You'll most likely get a C it's not a difficult class.

He's a little odd, first impression is he's a tough grader. I missed his midterm&he made me feel like the final would make me fail the class. But as long as he remembers your face it'll benefit you at the final for extra points because he doesn't always take attendance. No book needed tbh! 2 take home essay exams& long lectures easy!

What Mr. Orozco mentioned in class have saved my life, not only academically, but for after graduating college. There were so many times of what he brought up have changed my perspective towards the U.S. society and even my personal relationship. He is a bold but intelligent person. You have to be bright and aged enough to understand the lessons.
